KCPD Develops 'First Amendment' Policy After 'Mostly Peaceful' Plaza Riots

The aftermath of election season persists as authorities confront new mandates whilst biz remains shut down.

Takeaway from today's police board meeting . . .

The “First Amendment-Protected Activities” policy was discussed Tuesday during the monthly meeting of the Kansas City Board of Police Commissioners. The proposed policy was presented to the board for review, and no immediate action was taken.

The new policy was created in response to protests last summer at the Country Club Plaza. During those demonstrations, Kansas City officers were criticized for their use of tear gas and other methods to disperse crowds after officers reported that objects were thrown at them.

Police Chief Rick Smith said it was important for the department to develop a “First Amendment policy,” as a way to re-evaluate how they respond to large demonstrations and public gatherings. “I think these are good policies,” Smith told police board members. “And I think these will serve our department and our community well.”

  3. They totally weren't rioting and looting! They were firstamendmenting!

  4. The first amendment does not include the right to take over streets, loot businesses, torch cars, or assault police officers by hurling chunks of ice at them. The Plaza rioters did all of those things.

  5. So unlike the dead police officers at a President-directed MAGAT insurrection!

    LOCK HIM UP!

  6. The Libtards said barely a peep as people were being killed by their fellow Libtards. Still don't know who killed those two black men in Seattle's CHOP district, do we?

  7. The NYT has retracted its Sicknick allegations so officially no police officers were killed at the mostly peaceful protests at the Capitol on Jan. 6th. An unarmed woman was brutally murdered by some sort of security officer that day but we still know nothing about that. Her family has hired lawyers who are trying to get to the bottom of her execution.

  8. 4:30 = lying liberal filth

4:52 - The New York Times, caught lying again. What a shock said NO ONE.

You can bet, that if some BLM thug was killed by a cop, the New York Times would have already doxxed him, but, no, the killer security guard/FBI agent is black, so he is shielded from the public and ANY prosecution for shooting an unarmed vet in the throat.

  10. So in other words the black people rule and they can break into businesses and rob them, and that's their 1st amendment right. And also the police are not to use any weapons against them while they are doing this. Unbelievable. You black people might get by with this crap in the sewer cities but don't you dare pull this crap outside of your sewer we will not put up with it.

When tyranny becomes law rebellion becomes duty. We will fight you!

  12. The despicable dimwits had the capitol police officer cremated to destroy the evidence and then paraded him around for a month trying to sway public opinion on who killed him when it turns out no one did. This was supposed to be the biggest part of the impeachment until word leaked out that he died the next day in his office with no wounds period. Then the dimwits got caught falsifying evidence and that shot the whole sham of an impeachment to hell.

Trust the dimwit party to never let a good tragedy go to waste.... even if they have to make it up.

  13. So if the chief is smart he just laid out the ground rules for what happens with a peaceful protest and what he can and will do for all the violent left wing nut job riots.

  14. After Joe and Nazi peloskank lined our capitol with more automatic weapons than the green zone in bagdad, privite gun ownership is a problem. Give me a break.

  15. So looting and arson is now protected under the First Amendment in Kansas City? Good to know. I've have a few places in mind.

  16. Just hope the mostly peaceful rioters keep their first amendmenting down on the Plaza and finish destroying it. Lucas owns the outcome and he should be a one term mayor.
