On the topic of love, passion, desire and politics . . . I'm not certain if it was an old Beastie Boys track, college reading or a conversation at a bus stop that brings this quote to mind on Valentine's Day and in the aftermath of a historic impeachment acquittal.
“The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. The opposite of art is not ugliness, it's indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy, it's indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, it's indifference.”
This passage brings to mind that most voters are indifferent to incompetent Democratic Party leadership who offered the former Prez an easy victory that he earned while playing golf.
Most voters can't tell one "progressive" talk show host from the next . . . Even formerly celebrated late night comedians now host smaller audiences that are indifferent to their partisan ranting.
Meanwhile . . .
Like it or not, the public's infatuation with Prez Trump demonstrates that for better and worse he offered the public real life leadership that inspires a far greater reaction than so many of his colleagues.
This trend should resonate for everyone one in their own lives in much the same way that I think about a stripper I once "dated" far more than any of my more educated, qualified and far more accomplished former loves.

Perspective Across The Pond
Donald Trump's insurrection incitement charge is a "monstrous lie", defence lawyers said as they presented evidence in the US Senate. Lawyer Michael van der Veen called impeachment proceedings against the former president a "politically motivated witch hunt" by the Democrats. Mr Trump is accused of causing riots in the Capitol on 6 January which left five people dead.
GOP Confronts Probs
The seven Republican senators who joined all 50 Democrats in voting to convict former President Donald Trump of inciting the Jan. 6 riot in the Capitol are now facing heat from conservatives in their home states.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., called out Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., for speaking out against former President Donald Trump after voting to acquit Trump at his impeachment trial. Despite voting in Trump's favor, McConnell blamed the former president for the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
From Melania With Love
Melania Trump marked Valentine's Day with a tweet remembering how she spent the holiday in past years - but made no mention of her husband Donald. The former first lady took to Twitter on Sunday to share three photos of herself visiting with sick kids at The Children's Inn at the National Institute of Health.
The Senate voted to acquit Trump in a 57-43 vote, with 7 Senate Republicans breaking with their party and voting to convict him for the Jan. 6 Capitol attack - far short of the 17 GOP votes needed for Trump's conviction.
