Go To Work Sick Or Go Without Pay - Kansas City-Area Fast Food Workers Face An Almost Impossible Decision

For workers living on the edge, missing a paycheck can be crushing. "I've gone to work sick," McDonald's worker Terrence Wise said. "This COVID disaster forces us sometimes to do things we don't want to do. And we shouldn't be in a position to have to make those decisions in the first place."

The federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour has not changed since 2009. Increasing it would raise the earnings and family income of most low-wage workers, lifting some families out of poverty—but it would cause other low-wage workers to become jobless, and their family income would fall.

This interactive tool allows users to explore the effects of policies that would increase the federal minimum wage, including the Raise the Wage Act (as passed by the House of Representatives on July 18, 2019) and options CBO analyzed in The Effects on Employment and Family Income of Increasing the Federal Minimum Wage. Users can also create custom policy options to examine how different approaches to changing the minimum wage would affect earnings, employment, family income, and poverty.

  9. If someone goes to work with COVID, and someone gets fatally ill they have committed felony assault and manslaughter. If they end up killing someone's mom, undoubtedly revenge will be sought.

The lesson? Don't eat at fast food shitholes where scumbags don't care. Fix your own food.

  13. RE: “I've gone to work sick,” McDonald’s worker Terrence Wise said.

Terrence Wise was first featured on local media maybe 10 years ago, working at McDonald's and marching for $15/hr. and a union.

    AND HE'S STILL THERE!

Everyone besides Terrence Wise can see what the problem is, you have to be motivated to improve your life and follow-through with action.

If he had joined the military 10 years ago, he'd have a much better life now.
