Hollywood Star For Charlie Parker

Personally, we believe that the last remaining local jazz dudes playing a few tunes at his local grave site is a much more meaningful tribute.

But this is nice too . . .

Charlie Parker, KC Jazz legend, to receive star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Kansas City, Missouri, legend, known for his influence in the Jazz scene will have his name forever cemented in the Hollywood Walk of Fame. 1. Jazz is for fat old men, usually white men, who are unemployed, divorced twice and have no money, mostly living in trailers. Oh their "glory days" in the high school band!

  2. He hated Kansas City as much as Jesus hates sin.

  3. A revolutionary musician, he collated jazz into a accessible new form of music. F--k Hollywood.

  5. Buried in his hometown of KCK. Hated this town and remarked more than ONCE he'd never be buried here. Contrary to his wishes he was. The decision was mostly a matter of finances. He was literally destitute, living off of his friends. Died in the ritzy digs of one of his many mistresses a wealthy white baroness and jazz patron to many musicians.
Tragic tortured life. I never cared for his style as I prefer more traditional jazz, but recognize a genius when I see one.

  7. @11:51AM and since you never met the man, you have NO idea whether he did or did not hate KC. He was a degenerate heroin addict/junkie. So how about you just fuck off fatty?

  8. 12:34 how about you just STFU.

11:51 please know your facts before trying to act like you do.

  10. ^^@11:51AM is another geriatric fucktard liar. Parker is NOT buried in KCK, rather he’s in Lincoln Cemetery in KC MO. Old people lie constantly on here.

  11. Ok thx 6-01 I will look that up. I never heard of Lincoln cemetery before.

  12. I stand corrected. I thought he was buried originally in kck and then transferred to KCMO. The erudite poster, while lacking in basic social skills was correct.
FYI... I didn't have to meet him to know his well publicized disdain for the city, just like I don't have to meet you to know you're a moron.
