Ride KC Stays Losing 2021 Snowpocalypse

It turns out that free bus service isn't all that it's cracked up to be as a few inches of snow basically shuts down this town on holiday.

Check the deets . . .

RideKC Bus and RideKC Freedom will be suspended at 8 PM on Friday night, Jan. 1, due to road conditions and for the safety of our riders and bus operators. People are encouraged to stay home and not travel unless absolutely necessary.

RideKC routes that are in service at 8:00 PM will complete the one-way trip before leaving service.  For example, a northbound Prospect MAX that is in service at 39th & Prospect at 8:00 PM will complete the northbound trip to 11th/12th and Wyandotte.

Saturday morning, Jan. 2, RideKC expects to resume regular Saturday service.

RideKC Freedom and RideKC Freedom OnDemand will begin Saturday in Phase C . Delays of over 1 hour are likely with significantly longer delays possible. Customers with non-critical trips are encouraged to cancel and reschedule. Contact Reservations at (816) 842-9070.

  1. If you depend on the government for your transportation you are a dumbass. Did you learn nothing from Katrina?

  2. ^^^ +1000000000

But it didn’t take Katrina for you to know to stay the hell away from government supplied bussing.

  3. So cranky, Tony. "Free" has nothing to do with it. Bus fares don't control the weather, or the budget for clearing the roads.

  4. Scare tactics control ridership dumbass! Who wants to get into a disease box after they've been told that they will die? Where do they actually have to go with everything locked down like Nazi Germany? How many people actually travel to work anymore? How many people are still employed? Doe mankind a favor and shut the hell up 9:35. Idiot!

  5. Agree with @9:35. This isn't about free transit, it's about bad weather conditions and streets that need repair.

  6. Sure because people have been waiting in line to ride the Metro and the toy train all last year.

  7. Sitting on your ass waiting for government handouts is not a smart way to live your life.
