Given that the organizing principle of Western Civilization is to garner a great deal of junk and make war on anybody who threatens it . . . This social media group is a nice yet unproductive distraction. Like yoga or reading classic fiction.

'Buy Nothing' groups gain popularity in Kansas City area

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - People all over the Kansas City metro are exchanging goods and services with their neighbors without exchanging money or bartering. They're using the "Buy Nothing Project". The organization uses Facebook to create groups for individual neighborhoods or cities. Elaine Jardon launched the Overland Park, Kansas, Central group in April 2020.

  1. It’s a nice sentiment but history shows these things never last. Because eventually the giver realizes he’s being used by the takers and gets nothing in return

  2. The big government they crave will soon turn on them. Bartering is taxable income and just because they love the tax man doesn't mean he won't come for them.

  5. If only they can get the Socialist backing homeowners of Brookside to divide their wealth. It's tough to live in their 500k plus houses, drive his and hers matching Land rovers and yet put up that mandatory all lives matter/save OJ / free willy / divide the wealth sign. Weerd-as-fuk

  6. Personally, I just put down my IPHONE 13 and will not use it in public again. Don't want to get shamed at the Social-commie rallies.

  7. Buy nothing? No thanks, I already have plenty of nothing.

  8. Most critics of "socialism" cannot tell the difference between Karl Marx and Groucho.

Every American over 65-67 enjoys the fruits of socialism: A social security check and/or Medicare. DUH!

  9. Shop lifting is an economic model if your black why can't whites trade ?

  10. 11:56, if you think those are examples of socialism you can't tell the difference between Karl and Groucho.

  11. ^^^They are examples of socialism. Every worker contributes, and only those who live to be old enough or are disabled collect them. This isn't to say they're bad, but they are socialism.

As for "Buy Nothing," that is not socialism. It's recycling, like freecycle was, and you can accomplish the same thing on Nextdoor or Craigslist.
