Tonight, TKC readers have already talked about this controversial effort in the comments but it's worth a mention simply to document the tactic taking hold in this cowtown as protest under the cover of darkness is now, apparently, a viable form of dissent.
Credit to KMBC for putting the report on blast whilst other stations have politely ignored the neighborhood drama . . .
KC Tenants protests evictions outside second Jackson County judge's home
KC Tenants rallied outside the home of a second Jackson County judge Tuesday evening. Renters don't want evictions to resume on Jan. 25.About 80 protesters gathered outside the home of a judge that they call the biggest evictor, saying she's granted more than 350 evictions since June."All evictions are an act of violence.
Did they mention the crime problem too?
ReplyDelete^^^ They are the crime problem. Dip stick.
DeleteJudges! We don't want to pay rent. We want a rich landlord, with all of their millions, to allow us to live free in their properties.
ReplyDelete^^^^ Dey white, dey sexy. U fake, u nasty.
Delete"Many protesters want zero evictions and free rent."
ReplyDeleteOf course they do. The Free-Shit Army is on the march.
KC Tenants are local terrorists were out harassing a judge tonight. The Mayor and city council need to put a stop to this.
ReplyDeleteThe earnings tax is act of violence

ReplyDeleteno worries...Senile Joe Bidet will issue an e.o. to halt evictions nationwide..rent scammers win!
What about the landlords? Are they required to give away free stuff?
ReplyDeleteI don't think so.
^^^
ReplyDeleteIt depends on how they voted.
Nothing prevents landlords from going out of business. We did this during the first round, and the very judge being protested tonight ruled in our favor. The tenant refused to pay rent, which was out of her control as she was laid off, but because there was no rent, I couldn't afford the taxes, insurance, and utilities included with the rent. I asked the judge how it is fair that the unemployed tenant gets to live in my property for free, while I go bankrupt providing the tenant with a place to liv?. The judge agreed, indicating I could go out of business, and stop renting to the public. I essentially gave up my certificate of occupancy for KCMO, which was fine. Then I rented it to someone who I know could pay rent and said they were family. Done. Guess what? Anyone who can pay rent is now a family member.
ReplyDelete^^^
ReplyDeleteUseful info. It's not a great loophole but it probably works. It's a shame that KC is so unfriendly to property owners. I hope people will remember this when earnings tax vote time comes.
