Quick complaint but it's important . . .
KANSAS CITY WATER HAS TASTED LIKE BATTERY ACID FOR ABOUT A MONTH!!!
About a month ago the Water Dept. put out a tweet acknowledging widespread complaints when the water was basically undrinkable.
Since the there has been moderate improvement but the water still has a noticeable metallic taste with a few residents, via social media, reporting tingling taste buds after drinking a couple of glasses.
So far the Water Department stands by the safety of their product whilst a great many locals have moved to using wasteful bottled water for drinking given that promises of a quick fix have been unrealized.

It’s been over two months in my part of town, it tastes bad most of the time with some days of being just ok. We’ve been drinking bottled water because of it. My bill is over a hundred bucks a month and we can’t even drink the water, this city can’t get anything right anymore.
ReplyDeleteWho ever is in charge of the water dept. needs to be fired along with the mayor, it’s like Detroit around here, drink it, it’s fine, the lead in the water won’t hurt you....
Several years ago, they advised the color was bad due to "turbidity" in the river, which was low at the time. Made some sense, but due to my basic distrust of anything connected to this shitty's gubmnt, I started boiling my drinking water, then filling Gatorade bottles. It has become an easy routine and the water tastes great. I'm a retired widower so my needs are not excessive. Doing this for a family might be burdensome. Too bad we cannot have good water at these rates. I have a feeling everything about this city is, and will continue, going to the dogs.
ReplyDeleteLook where our water comes from. The Missouri River. What is in the river? Catfish that take massive shits all day. Trees. Garbage. Junked cars. Fertilizer. Runoff from hog and cattle production. Dead whores. Combine that with the incompetence of the water department and its no wonder our water tastes like cat piss.
ReplyDeleteUh, trust the Gov't okay, they know that the water is safe because they tested it and said it is. If it was not safe they would figure something out, so I would just ignore the taste issue, it is probably nothing.

ReplyDeleteGreetings Kansas City readers, I live in Topeka and I have some questions for you. Has your water been bad during all winters or is it year problem?
ReplyDeleteIs the problem city wide or just certain neighborhoods? I ask this because I live in an old part of town with water mains that are 60 to 100 plus years old and they break several times a year. I think if it's a city wide issue you all need to put some pressure on the water department to look upstream to find out what you're neighbors up north are dumping into the river because, when I have visited Kansas City in the past I have thought the water had a good quality to it. My personal reference point of bad tasting water is in the cities of Warrensberg, MO and Paxico, KS. I hope you all can get better water sooner than later.
As seasons change, adjust the process. Don't we have chemists and engineers with countless years of experience working for the city? Neglect? Apathy? Are they told NO by management?
