KANSAS CITY 'STARTER HOMES' COST AROUND QUARTER MILLION BUCKS!!!

Here's the first glimpse at the demise of the American dream and that COVID INFLATION we were talking about.

Quote from paywall article at the KC Biz Journal . . .

First-time homebuyers in Kansas City face a challenging market for their price range.

Houses priced between $200,000 and $300,000 — the typical budget for first-time buyers — have multiple offers and fly off the market. High demand, low interest rates and an inventory shortage in the metro area probably will continue in 2021, keeping the process competitive.

  1. You can get a house on the eastside pretty cheap. All landlords are bailing out and we have tons of idiot liberals moving here from dirty CA they are the ones driving up the prices. 200K can get you a pretty big house in a safe area if you go to the burbs. KC has nothing to offer except rats. Oh and why is there a house in central Hyde Park that has been in foreclosure for months and is not selling???? It's pretty cheap too for today's market, it's also been rehabbed. I hate people who don't know what they are talking about.

  2. For 200,000 you could buy 100 acres out in the country and live in peace and safety

    1. Hhaahahahhahahaha, Silvestre, I wish. Cheap, garbage land even as far south as bates County is being asked at 8500 an acre. Unreal. Farmers are trying to hop on the market train and cash in.

  5. Prices change. If another market crash comes, as in 2008, all real estate will be 50% off. Maybe more as the covid ruin has hurt things even more.

Someday all real estate crashes. Just like the stock market and beanie baby market and Harley Davidson market and boat market and vaping manufacturing market. Even Gold crashes at times.

  6. You can still buy good sound well-built houses north of the River in the $90,000-$100,000 range, and if you have another $50,000 to upgrade appliances and "modernize" the decoration of the interiors; you can enjoy good schools, convenient shopping, low crime rates, and (within KCMO,) have the advantage of being completely ignored by KCMO City Government for most of the year, with the exception of Tax collection time.

  7. ^508, look at the listings. That’s not the case. My home is a typical bland shitbox made by a horrible company, comp homes to mine are up literally $30000 in a year, or about 20%. Home itself is same shitbox with stupid trumptard neighbors and white trash, and despite this, up almost 50% since we moved 6-7 years ago.

The schools up north aren’t that good as everyone thinks. They’re very average at best. There’s no decent restaurants and nothing but long drives.

I think gladstone or raytown has decent homes at a fair price. I would look there if i was buying.

  8. If you are renting now just wait a couple of years. Buying into a frothy market is a mistake.

  9. $300k is a STARTER HOME? My $300k home is 4200 sq ft on a quarter acre backing up to woods in the city. 4 bedroom, 4 bath with a man cave. It took us 20 yrs to get to this home. This is a starter home? I'm thinking these starters are out of their minds.

  11. Lived in an unusual home in Raytown. Cost me 16 thou. Most homes within 3 doors of me were around me 80 thou. Just around the corner were 170 thou-- and starting in 2005 became the worst neighbors you all know of. The decent working class had suddenly been surrounded with the socially engineered welfare class who don't believe in work or family. My home was appraised at 45 thou when I got the hell out and sold it for 14. Folks I sold it to were broken into twice and never had a moment's peace. I long for the quiet and Godly days of Raytown 1994 thru 2004. Think it's racist ? Get a grip on your kids, cuz the thug class will dumb them down and recruit their attitude into one of hip-hop dementia.
