Kansas City COVID Restaurant Week 2021 Serves Carryout Disappointment

The annual Kansas City winter upscale foodie festival has been dramatically downsized to cope with the "dark days" of the pandemic.

The event has always been over-hyped but this time around posh restaurants are counting on civic pride and sympathy for service industry workers to help sell dramatically overpriced fare. It's a decent pitch considering that takeout food gratification is often fleeting.

Nevertheless, local media is helping throw a lifeline to local restaurants that continue to suffer through the KCMO COVID crackdown whilst losses & shut downs pile up.

Here's a far more upbeat promo clip directed at locals with disposable income who might need a self-esteem boost along side their pricey, sumptuous, cuisine.

    1. No thanks, home cooked meals are a far better option than the "gourmet" menu that's just mass produced slop.

  4. I don't wear a mask because I'm not sick or stupid.

Most of the time that's fine with jack co businesses I want go to, if not I spend money elsewhere, mostly in cass co, which is making a killing.

Kcmo is fucked. Poor leaders make poor decisions.

  7. it's tough to do it, tough to meet the added labor and packaging costs of putting these plated meals - meant to be served and enjoyed at a table in a dining room adjacent to a kitchen staffed -- and put that into styrofoam. the customer hardly gets what they pay for even tho it is costing the restaurant more money

  8. the comment at 2:17, bragging about not wearing a mask into service and eating establishments. you are bashing the low-wage employees with your decision. they cannot leave. they are captive. the cashiers the waitstaff the frontline employees. they have to endure you and your decision to impose yourself upon them.
