Kansas City South-Broadland church has suffers constant attacks and vandalism after the congregation aligned with the Black Lives Matter movement last year following nationwide protests against police brutality.
Accordingly, here's their latest missive and what looks like an attempt to play the middle-ground and return to their faith-based mission . . . Check the money line from a recent urban core ask . . .
"We will continue to stand against racism. The bullying/terror that is being employed by others in the neighborhood will not sway us from standing resolute in what we believe is an important justice issue! BUT it is now time for us to secure our building with security cameras and window shatter alarms. We understand this will not solve the vandalism but we hope will aid the Police in the work of finding the ones responsible. The money raised will help defray the costs incurred for purchase and installation of these security measures.
"And an important side note: We respect those who serve on the Blue Line...that has never been the issue. But it is important for us to fight for the humanity of our brothers and sisters who have been oppressed and subjugated because of the color of their skin. Our faith compels us to action...to not be silent...to call ourselves and others to account...seeing the full humanity of our African American brothers and sisters."
