Kansas City bike share program goes dockless

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - You can now rent and return a bicycle from the RideKC Bike Share program anywhere by using an app. In 2020, the program eliminated the docking system it's used since its inception in 2012. Eric Vaughan, BikeWalkKC's director of bike share and business services, said the new layout allows for more flexibility.

  9. pretty affordable to get a bike nowadays

lots of used places, nonprofit bike co op type things nowadays are plentiful, craigslist, facebook marketplace, etc

some places give you a bike for free

just saying, is there a need for this program, to justify the cost?

what is the number of people who want to ride a bike but have not got one? must be pretty small number and it could be addressed by a more targeted approach than, literally, scattering bikes across town

bad public policy - maybe not hurting anyone, just ineffective, wasteful, stupid really, makes people think they are doing something when they are doing nothing substantive at all.
