KC Tenants Start Rent Strike At The Alps

MSM reported this Midtown Kansas City rent beef earlier in the week . . . Right now we check public radio sharing advocacy disguised as news as the threat of an eviction crisis looms during the upcoming "dark days" of Winter.

Check-it . . .

Kansas City Tenants Unionize After Landlord Forces Them To Leave, Landlord Says 'LOL'

Tenants of a Kansas City apartment complex have unionized after the owner announced plans to renovate, a move a tenants' advocate calls a "workaround" to sidestep a national eviction moratorium. Del Hedgepath, owner of the Alps Apartments, last week notified 68 residents that they must move out by January 31 for extensive renovations that will last at least 10-to-14 months.

  1. Why does the landlord have to give free rent to people who will not keep their agreements?

  2. Unfortunate, yes. Inconvenient, yes. Illegal, absolutely not. When will these “KC Tenants” learn that if they want to call the shots they need to own instead of rent. I also like the irony of the long list of building complaints in the letter, yet they blast the landlord for making improvements.

  3. Sorry. I'm with Hedgepath on this.

  6. If you pay you can stay. No free rides folks! Maybe you should talk to Q Ball about opening things up so you can get a job. Aren't socialist states within city confines great? 😏🍿

  7. I stand with the building owner on this! It is his building not theirs! What a bunch of communists!

  8. I'd be surprised if there were any such thing in law as a tenants' union. Most likely the "union" is composed of a few left-activist tenants who claim the right to speak for all tenants, whether they have actually been given that right or not.

"...if they can’t find money for a new security deposit, they’ll be homeless.” Assuming they left their apartments in good shape, they will get their security deposits back from the landlord, and can use that money when they rent a new place.

    1. Funny that he has that if he didn't fix it up, they would be complaining. So, he is and they are complaining.

Let me guess what their demands are?? 12 months paid somewhere else?

  12. like typical Democrat greedy union slobs --the tenants union will be looking to scam .. "Mo' Free Stuff"!

  13. @9:24, you're probably right, but what came first, the chicken or the egg? How many times do you get trash tenants who tear up your crap before you become completely desensitized to them and their antics and become a slum lord. What's the purpose of trying to rent "nice" units to trash tenants? What's the point of even fixing them up between renters knowing that money might possibly be recovered, but most likely is just a loss? I came just this close to starting down a rental property path "-" but even cash buy of property and having no creditors, the cost of trash tenants was too much.

  14. An enterprising person would start a list of all people associated with these Communists and post it. A list so you know who not to rent to or employ.

  17. Despicable for giving notice right before Christmas considering what a shitty year it has been. To force people to move in the middle of winter. He should wait till spring as people get their taxes and perhaps a stimulus by then. I’m sure demolition crews love to work in a 100 year old building in freezing conditions with lead and asbestos and COVID. If any get the Trump flu they’ll shut the job down anyway. Not illegal, just cunty.

  18. ^^and yet you are our resident expert on being cunty. Weird

  19. I love the use of the word "workaround". Seems legal to me. All the leases are coming to an end. Landlords aren't obligated to keep renting to you once the lease is up.

    ReplyDelete
  20. "Workaround" AkA the "reach around" a term familiar with both parties. myb if the owner would give a reach around while doing the big nasty, it might go smoother with less friction.

  21. What crap. Tenants are on a month to month leas & landlord gives them a 68 day noticeice to move. Sounds like landlord needs a pat on back for bein generous to tenants and saving a historic property.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Great for Hedgepath...renovating a hundred year old property to provide housing.
And...he gave the tenants a 68 days notice...that was over and above what he had to do.
The tenants should be sending his xmas gifts & celebrating him & his good will.
Id assume the cow in the pic hasn't paid rent in months and has lesbo parties 24-7.

  23. del hedgepath steals from housing charities that provide housing to persons HIV positive. but those housing charities are so flush with federal cash they aren't too interested in finding out how extensive it is because it would disrupt their money flow too. and so it goes...

  24. Buy your own building. Give free housing to all your friends. Problem solved.

    ReplyDelete
  25. What is the problem? Man owns building with tenants that signed month to month agreement. Man gives tenants a 68 notice move. Man spends millions in mid-town to provide safe housing. What am I missing?
