Kansas City Longest Night 2020 Aftermath

Images from the gathering and a worthwhile postscript . . .

Longest Night 2020

Even with Covid it was the largest attendance we’ve had. And we were still able to provide ample social distancing.

Our city is deeply hurting right now. It was good to have an evening where we simply care for each other. Families could identify with others who were hurting as badly as they were. There is some comfort in sharing grief. And in a city so broken and in pain, there is at least momentary relief as people from all parts of our city come to gather to care for each other.  It proves we can have a better community.

We want this event to continue to raise awareness that this issue is not going to go away. And we are not going to allow it to be brushed aside. Other cities have reduced their homicides- it can be done in must be done.
