With Guidance And Data From Kansas City Health Department, Upon Emergency Order From Mayor Quinton Lucas, Regulated Industries Callously Shuts Down Bar During Benefit For Cop With Cancer

As the nation preps to distribute the vaccine, Kansas City continues to debate a controversial COVID curfew and the "science" that makes the virus more dangerous after 10PM.

Moreover, there's growing and dangerous disrespect for City Hall authority and their ability to govern.

We had a special request to "correct" our headline. Of course we complied by we might talk about it more later . . .

Anyhoo, here's an example of growing local resistance to public health orders . . .

Kansas City bar defies emergency order

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) - The Scene Rock Bar on U.S. Highway 40 is continuing to host concerts on their outdoor stage and indoors. A temporary sign on the front door states they're open until 10 p.m. in compliance with the latest emergency order.

    1. Pernicious comes from the Latin perniciosus, "destructive," which in turn comes from pernicies, "death" or "ruin."

  2. I learned today that useless = trying to counter the spread of a virus that can kill some. Thanks Chuckles.

  3. The mayor is as gutless as 9:41 is moronic.

  4. Way to go mr. mayor. Another small business scalp on your belt.

At this rate, I don't think we will have to wait long before it feels like we are all living inside a Mad Max movie.

  5. He's not just targeting small business he's targeting white people and cops. This is out there in plain sight and everyone can see what the black communists in city hall are doing.

Did you know that black democrats are now saying republicans are confederates? That's how ignorant they are. A real slap in the face for the lives lost to help them years ago. So hopefully we will be able to spit and throw feces on Frank White Quinton Lucas and the health dept. some day very soon just like they have done to us. Black democrats are DIRTY.

  6. 9:41 What virus? We got less than 2000 active cases, the hospitals are no where near full and as a matter of fact they’ve refused additional staffing, mayor mcdumbo and fake dr Rex are killing people with their uneducated and ill informed rhetoric, this is what happens when a spoiled rotten child gets elected as mayor and an old as fake dr that doesn’t know shit and is scared of his own shadow.

  7. 9:41 is mayor mcdumbo

  8. That’s my mayor for ya, fuck up an event for someone with brain cancer, nomwonder he’s turned this city into a third world country.

Now imagine for a moment if the guy with brain cancer was black.....

  9. Are they busting black owned businesses? Anybody keeping an eye on 18th and shithole vine? Didn’t think so

  10. Yeah, sure thing chuck, like you go to The Scene a lot.

  12. 10:10 Maybe you should go support some black owned businesses like go chicken go for some of that delicious chicken, livers and gizzards and some of their fattening desserts! Lmao!

  13. Notice the mayor is being lenient to his precious gay bars.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Professor McDrinkerson! Now we have to ask. Are you throwing a few back in your office like you used to do in Lawrence? Just looking for an explanation for your addled, dictatorial actions. Just don't get behind the wheel of a car this time if you can help it!

    ReplyDelete
  15. How stupid and evil, or stupidly evil, or evil stupid does the mayor have to be to be doing this?

    ReplyDelete
  16. So far if it’s a gay bar, a black owned business, black churches or close personal friends of lickass downtown in the p&l district you’re protected. Seems perfectly fair to me!

I do find it strange that a bar all the way out on the border of independence all by itself I might add got picked out of the blue....

Wouldn’t have anything to do with a benefit for a cancer victim and police officer would it? I’m surprised Petersucker hasn’t brought this guy up on charges, you know, for being a cop.

  17. No problem. All these folks have to do is pretend to be those 'mostly peaceful protesters' we've heard about and they'll get a free pass! Not only to gather in tribute to their colleague but to rob, loot, burn, and rape!

  18. Mostly peaceful protests and Autonomous zones for everyone! Precedent has already been set!

  20. So you are all totally unaware of the pandemic going on, I take it? The one that killed 3,124 Americans yesterday? Unaware, then, of the effective measures that can be taken to curb its spread, such as bars closing early, or entirely? Dumb as fuck, I assume? Masks don't work, and all that? Plandemic?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Well, the problem is that we're not only aware of the pandemic, we're aware of the highly selective and deeply politicized nature of the response. Mayor McDrinkerson is a silly and irrelevant puppet as anyone can see; the real story is the nationwide hysteria that is not based in science and the procedures that have been hastily applied to complicated situations in what seems to be a slipshod and hypocritical way. Never mind the fact that the science on such things as masks and lockdowns is far from settled, and our trusted clinical 'leadership' is compromised by politics and quite obviously making it up as they go along. Add to this the growing roll of elected officials who preach strict precautions and yet do not observe them. Glad to clear it up for ya; critical thinking is a bitch ain't it?

  21. 10:28: Could you provide some evidence the mayor is being lenient with gay bars?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Has he closed yours?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Actually I don't frequent gay bars, but I was curious if 10:28 was. How else would he know the mayor was being lenient with gay bars. Has he closed yours, 11:13 or do you still hang out there until 10 PM?

    ReplyDelete
  24. "critical thinking is a bitch ain't it?"

  25. 11:01. According to the Show Me Strong Missouri Covid Dashboard there was one new Covid death on the 8th in Kansas City. There have been 313 total Covid deaths in KC since the this all started back in March. We are averaging less than 1 a day. That over 3,000 number does not have any meaning here.

    ReplyDelete
  26. So what you're saying 11:24 is you're aware of the highly politicized nature of the response, and all you have is a highly politicized response.

    Great.

Country's fucking doomed; maybe COVID will do us a favor and eradicate your type. I think it already has to a certain extent but obviously we've got a ways to go.

    1. Not what I'm saying at all. Work on reading comprehension. The facts are there and are apolitical; the response has been haphazard and politicized for gain, many political figures have been caught flagrantly violating rules they insist others follow, and there is serious question about the effects and effectiveness of masks and lockdowns. So calm down, stop pissing your pants at every crazed headline, and think for yourself for a change.

Oh, by the way, despite your bizarre wish for the death of people who disagree with you, case fatality is incredibly low in my age bracket. Sorry to disappoint. ;)

  29. There are two separate and distinct potential goals:

    1. "Flatten the Curve" - This is what was sold to the populace in the spring, and completely revolves around maintaining hospital capacity for those with serious symptoms. It makes sense, and aligns with typical health policy. A failure here has the potential to dramatically increase the mortality rate.

    2. "Prevent Deaths" - This one is tougher. COVID has a relatively low mortality rate, and it's a much tougher conversation when you have to weigh economic devastation against the "value" of lives lost. It each life worth $1m in economic loss?... What about $10m in loss?

If you paid attention, you noticed that the talking points shifted from "flattening the curve" in the spring to an almost sole focus on "each life matters", only to shift back to hospital capacity as of late as capacities began to trend downwards. It seems rather obvious that government has become addicted to this newly-found power to shut everything down, and continues to adjust their justifications for such. For some cities (LA, NY, SF), the shut downs have been way for mayors to drive policy desires. For others, including KC, the continued shutdowns seem to be a long-shot try for federal funds to rescue budgets already decimated before the pandemic.

  33. The intelligent debate concerning closure mandates and restrictions shouldn't revolve as much around their need (they are, at some level) as it should their effectiveness. Many public health policy experts (Stanford, Harvard, and others) are beginning to question the lack of science and data behind the decisions. There's no evidence that outdoor dining contributes to the spread, nor that early closure mandates really do much. In fact, the thoughts are that these types of restrictions actually increase the spread via alternate activities that occur when these types of restriction are in place. It is beginning to appear that areas of large indoor congregation, such as grocery stores and other big-box retailers, are really driving the spread.

The seemingly arbitrary and data-less decisions are starting to backfire with a populace that is fatigued by them and their economic impact. My guess is that we'll see a lot more of this type of civil disobedience by business owners and their customers. It's already starting to happen all over the country.

  34. A sign of intelligence is the ability to consider multiple TRUE facts at the same time, and make decisions based upon a multitude of considerations.

HEAVY-HANDED RESTRICTIONS ARE INEFFECTIVE = TRUE

REDUCING THE SPREAD IS GOOD PUBLIC POLICY = ALSO TRUE

Sadly, this blog seems to a microcosm of the larger national issues... Lot's of people without the ability to see any facts on the other side of the debate, and few with willingness to step outside of their own political views.
