Kansas City Chiefs Fans Remember Longest Game In NFL History

The longest game in football history is a cultural touchstone for Kansas City. 

The old timers recall the deets vividly and stories about the game offer a bittersweet perspective about life in this cowtown because the contest was also the last game played at the old Municipal Stadium. 

Whilst the Super Bowl championship team hopes for dynasty, the long ago moment in time still stands out because it marks the beginning of an economic downturn and suburban exodus from Kansas City.

The Longest Game in NFL History Took Place on Christmas Day

As the NFL schedule didn't even run into December for the longest time, it took the league more than 50 years to hold a game on Christmas Day. The first time it happened was in 1971 and there were actually two games on December 25 that year, both divisional round playoff games.
