DAISY & MOM DEAD BY SUICIDE!!! MELINDA COLEMAN KILLED HERSELF JUST FOUR MONTHS AFTER DAUGHTER'S DEMISE!!!

The tragic aftermath of a Missouri mother and daughter who boldly fought to push forward a sexual assault case to no avail provides perspective on the aftermath of a social justice effort and a horrific postscript of the #MeToo era.

Moreover, the story of this family overall is one of the most devastating dramas in American history. Through the years, many of her critics often overlooked that Daisy Coleman’s father was killed in a car crash when she was young and her brother Tristan tragically died in June 2018 in a car accident as well.

Daisy's suicide in August shocked her many fans and supporters but reminds us that documentary movie-making and overwrought editorials along with news reports only serve to chronicle troubled situations and don't really solve anything.

Over the years we exchanged a few emails with Melinda Coleman and while she initially held a great hatered for this blog community, she seemed to understand our mission in the discourse in our last few communications. Moreover, to the best of our ability we always attempted to offer some explanation and advice as to why social justice activists quickly disregarded her daughter's cause along with Internets opportunists. Melinda was deservedly skeptical of TKC but she also helped offer more insight through about half a dozen e-mails exchanged over the years and shared a fascinating perspective at the sense of abandonment people in the midst of social justice drama feel after the spotlight fades.

Here's horrible news .  . .

TMZ: Daisy Coleman Mom Melinda Dead by Suicide at 58 ... 4 Months After Daisy's Suicide

Deets . . .

Melinda Coleman was found dead Sunday night ... according to SafeBAE, the sexual assault prevention and recovery organization co-founded by Daisy following her rape case.

The group says it's in "shock and disbelief" over her suicide, adding ... "The bottomless grief of losing her husband, Tristan and Daisy was more than she could face most days."

SafeBAE called Melinda a "gifted veterinarian, devoted mother and wife, and talented body builder," adding ... "More than anything, she loved and believed in her children."

R.I.P.

@10:12 Unfair? How? She refuses to prosecute anything. Her team is stupidly slow. She is more worried about politics than serving the people she was elected to.

  3. This is sad. Where is Matthew Barnett after Special Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker gave him 2 stupid years of probation? And where is democrat judge glen dietrich who let this happen? The only way you could get less time is if raped this poor woman while smashing buildings on the Plaza during a BLM riot.

This is the fault of Jean Peters Baker and Glen Dietrich. Fuck them both.

  5. Sad all are dying but to me it's rather strange that a family is suffering so much death. You have to almost view this family as being rather dysfunctional. The whole rape thing IMH hinge on bad parenting and an out of control child. In fact the whole rape thing hinged on several out of control children. Did the guilt of being a bad parent finally push Melinda over the edge? I think the women went over the edge many years ago.

  6. This wasn't a case of rape, it was a case of kids in possession of alcohol and parents not being parents as 10:59 points out.

It only became rape the morning after and some parents got involved wanting to blame their child's behavior on anyone but themselves.

This incident became a media circus that largely ignored the roles the parents weren't taking and wanted to place all the blame on underaged drunk kids.

  7. I know kids make mistakes although this guy wasn't exactly a kid. That said, if they filmed it they knew it was wrong and the guy should be in jail far longer than what Jean Petersucker went after.

If she were my kid, I'd hunt this guy down and take care of it. Better I was in jail than my kid and her mom commit suicide.

Also another reason that Sleepy Joe and the socialists will never get my guns. Period.

And 10:59 and 11:08, you two can go fuck yourselves. Hope you don't have daughters. A kid who goes out and drinks under age deserves to wake up with a nasty hangover not get raped by another kid.

  11. ^^^ Let's see...

    1) The 20-year old Grandson of a Retired State Senator gets a 14-year old drunk and has sex with her when she passes out, while his friend videotapes him doing it to her. (Sure, not rape)

    2) The 20-year old drives the girl, still passed out almost home, then, with the temperature in the 20s, dumps her half naked body on her Neighbor's snow-covered lawn and drives away (Nice, still not rape?)

    3) Six witnesses testify to these facts, and the 20-year old confesses to his act. (Still not rape in your mind, right?)

    4) Due to the "sensitive" nature of the CRIME, a "Special Prosecutor, Jean Peters Baker is appointed. She reviews the evidence, but the videotape has somehow "disappeared", so she decides that six Witness Affidavits and the Perpetrator's Confession "aren't enough evidence to prosecute", and therefore negotiates to years probation for the "not-Rapist"!

    5) In a totally unrelated matter, the house that the 14-ywar old and her Mother lived in is somehow mysteriously burned to the ground three months later.

Yup, @11:08, just innocent childish fun - after all, boys will be boys!

Mean Jean is a mother and a woman. If there was any hard core evidence of a crime here she would have pressed for the charges. The entire matter is about teenagers doing incorrigible things. If a child is playing with matches that burns the apartment building down killing someone do you charge said child with murder or do you charge the parent or is it one of those incidents in life that happens which involved a child where no matter what there is no clear cut hard core remedy for.

In this case the truly guilty parties were the Barnett's whose home the party took place in and the person or persons who provided the booze that was the real cause of the whole dirty affair.

  16. It is awful. But many women are raped by total strangers (not invited party guests) that are never ever identified, and those rapists are not clean cut 17 year old high school students. Those rapists are very hateful, violent men, many with prison records, who threaten to kill and sometimes do kill and they often leave the woman with a STD or pregnancy. Plus it often happens when a woman is alone, in a parking lot, or shopping garage, not surrounded by friends at a drinking party. And those rape victims are sober and remember every second of the rape (not unconcious like Daisy). Plus some of the rapist steal the victims ID and know where they live. And each time the woman goes out she doesnt know if the man standing next to her is the rapist. At least Daisy knew her attacker and could avoid him if she saw him. I am not blaming Daisy for what happened to her, but there are different levels of violence and criminal intent, levels of threats to kill, to come back and do it again....and women do live and go on with their lives in those more violent rape cases.

    ReplyDelete
  17. You can kill someone, put them in their grave forever, send them to their afterlife, take them away from their family and yet the "legal system" says there are different "levels" of killing:

    Manslaughter
    2nd Degree Murder
    1st Degree Murder

But in all cases the person is just as dead. Dead is dead. Rape should be rape. But its NOT, there are different levels - all because of ATTORNEYS!

  18. When I was younger, in college, there were many girls at parties who planned on having sex that night at the party and drank alot to lose their inhabititions. Look at the girls (even underage) at Party Cove in the Ozarks. Look what they do while drunk. If you take drugs or booze this crazy stuff will happen. Had she and friends stayed sober it would not have happened, she could have screamed and scratched the guy up. At least she was not raped by a guy that gave her AIDS. You know that happens often. Women have been raped and later die of AIDS.

  20. It's called...

    Prosecutorial Discretion

As an elected or appointed official, the prosecutor is the most powerful official in the criminal justice system. Prosecutors exercise unfettered discretion, deciding who to charge with a crime, what charges to file, when to drop the charges, whether or not to plea bargain, and how to allocate prosecutorial resources. In jurisdictions where the death penalty is in force, the prosecutor literally decides who should live and who should die by virtue of the charging decision.

Criminal justice professors Joseph Senna and Larry Siegel propose the true measure of a prosecutor. In their view, a litmus test for the integrity of a prosecutor is how he or she answers the following question: “When you exercise discretion, are you more concerned with fairness, the likelihood of conviction, or political considerations?”

Prosecutors exercise the most discretion in three areas of decision making: the decision to file charges, the decision to dismiss charges, and plea bargaining.

    Charging

Once an arrest is made, a prosecutor screens the case to determine if it should be prosecuted or dropped. The decision to prosecute is based on the following factors:

    • The sufficiency of the evidence linking the suspect to the offense.
    • The seriousness of the offense.
    • The size of the court's caseload.
    • The need to conserve prosecutorial resources for more serious cases.
    • The availability of alternatives to formal prosecution.
    • The defendant's culpability (moral blameworthiness).
    • The defendant's criminal record.
    • The defendant's willingness to cooperate with the investigation or prosecution of others.

    Dropping charges

After a prosecutor files a charge, the prosecutor can reduce the charge in exchange for a guilty plea or enter a nolle prosequi (nol. pros.). A nolle prosequi is a formal statement by a prosecutor declaring that a case is discontinued. Reasons for entering a nol. pros. include insufficient evidence, inadmissible evidence, false accusations, and the trivial nature of some crimes.

    Plea bargaining

Prosecutors also exercise discretion in negotiating pleas with defense counsel. A plea bargain is an agreement in which a prosecutor permits a defendant to plead guilty in exchange for a concession, such as reducing the charges or recommending a lenient sentence. There are advantages of plea bargaining to both the accused and the state. For the accused, it offers the possibilities of a reduced sentence and cheaper legal representation. For the government, it reduces the financial costs of prosecution, improves the efficiency of the courts by having fewer cases go to full trials, and allows the prosecution to devote its resources to the more serious cases.

  26. I have been to lots of parties. Seen drunk grown-up men and grown-up women act like total fools. Booze lowers people's inhabitions. Its like they forget right and wrong. It erases their judgement. Almost 35% of all murders are committed by people legally drunk. This is a really bad thing all the way around. Unfortunantly school age party rapes happens each and every weekend across the USA. Usually the girl says nothing and is ashamed. Sometimes the boy is notified that he has a baby on the way. Its a lose/lose situation. Parents please be aware and act accordingly. If your teenaged daughter is sneaking out at night you have a problem!

  27. You could tell Daisey was in a down spiral. From a darling cute girl, to someone covered in piercings and tatoos. It was a dark change, and probably done from anger, towards society as a whole. Someone BESIDES herself, should have been assigned to help her. Just because your a rape victim doesnt mean you know how to reverse the effects of rape. Sad story all the way around.

  28. Fact is, every year there are thousands of teenaged girls who have sex, some non-consensual at parties, and they are in various stages of being drunk or high on drugs. This has been going on since the late 1960s. Nobody has done anything about it. Except lower the age to buy booze. What a mistake.

I think the "bad parents" were the ones who raised the kid who raped the completely incapacitated 14 year old girl and then succeeded on getting him completely off the hook for it, while shaming the victim.

Petersucker proved completely ineffectual in this case, just like every other case which is a big part of the reason KC has become the murderous cesspool it is today.

  30. I dont know why these people are killing themselves. Rape victims do survive and live decent lives. Unlike my friend shot and paralyzed on her business trip who is now wheelchair bound forever with the bad guy never found.

This girl lied to Mom. Planned the night out. Snuck out of house. Got herself unconciously drunk at a party which took alot of time and alot of booze. Layed on the floor and passed out while others drinking less were talking and socializing around her. Didnt even know she had been raped till much later (proving she wasnt a virgin) then raises hell that someone took advantage of her? Question : If a beautiful girl drives to a bad part of town, gets drunk, walks naked through a gathering of drunk men, at 2am and get raped after she passes out - then who's fault is it?

  31. Sorry for the way the law failed them. Its sick.

  32. Drunk High School girls get raped all the time at parties. Its nothing new. Since the kids are juveniles, its never seriously prosecuted. Laws for kids are different. And thats because Parents are responsible for monitoring their kids if they are under 18. The parents are held to a higher standard of law abiding than the kids themselves.
