$20 million Clay County annex project to move forward after lawsuit against city dropped
Clay County, Missouri, has agreed to drop a lawsuit against Kansas City, Missouri, over a maligned $20 million county annex construction project near Missouri 152 and North Brighton Avenue.The county sued the city in October after Kansas City, Missouri, building inspectors issued stop work orders alleging the county did not have the right building permits for the job.

ReplyDeleteOld Annex is in poor condition and inadequate.
Missouri law requires competitive bidding.
Owen has a background in construction and was most qualified to approve spending for the new annex.
Ridgeway is an experienced attorney with sixteen years experience in the Legislature and knows what she is doing.
Nolte was a struggling cartoonist before going into politics.
He learned that developers will pay well for their TIFs.
Check Nolte contributions and note first contribution in 2014 was $5,000 from a Clay Co developer.

ReplyDeleteI go to the Annex frequently on business, it is much preferable to the outdated Courthouse, and had been remodeled ($5 million+) within the past five years.
Owen did not hold any competitive bidding before approving one of his major contributors as the General Contractor.
Ridgeway is applying for employment at one of the firms she and Owen paid huge amounts of taxpayer's money to trying to stifle the State Auditor's Audit. She CERTAINLY knew what she was doing there.
Nolte is the only Commissioner who has been acting responsibly and answering to the citizens throughout this period of turmoil.
Owen and Ridgeway each received more money in contributions from Developers than did Nolte, check the totals each of them received. Owen received $50,000 from the firm he selected to act as General Contractor alone.

ReplyDeleteThe above comment simply reflects the author is an elitist asshole who probably has ties to an involved construction company.
Many folks struggle in their endeavors, and to suggest that this disqualifies them from citizen office is reprehensible.
It's nice to have folks who are not career politicians (or LAWYERS DRINKING AT THE PUBLIC TROUGH) in office.
However, Frank White would be an exception.
