SHOCK!!! KANSAS CITY STAR FORCED TO MOVE OUT OF GLASS HOUSE!!!

Kansas City dead-tree media has been forced to suffer yet another humiliation as their operation continues to cut back.

And now . . .

KANSAS CITY STAR WILL NO LONGER OCCUPY THEIR FORMER GLASS & STEEL PREMIER DOWNTOWN LOCATION!!!

Confirmation . . .

The Kansas City Star to move from downtown building, shift printing operations

Deets:

"The Star will vacate its building at 1601 McGee St. by the end of 2021. As part of the transition, the newspaper will move printing to a third party, beginning in the first quarter of 2021. The changes come after parent company McClatchy, which owns 30 U.S. news organizations, including The Star, The Miami Herald and The Sacramento Bee, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February."

Even worse . . .

"They went on to say that 68 full-time and 56 part-time production employees will be laid off. They will be eligible for a severance. "

There's additional spin about "investing in journalism" and other inside jokes intended to convince the elderly and/or the naive.

Sadly, the paper continually cutting back isn't a sign of success and confirms a continued decline in advertising, subscribers and revenue.

Developing . . .

roll their shit in little balls.

  5. Lol.
The one or two employees who work from home.... Fanin spins like a top.
This blog get more reader input and is a heckuva lot more interesting.
    And it’s free!

Moral: those in glass houses shouldn’t throw rocks... or else Karma will bite ‘em in the ass every time!

Sad. So sad. And I bet they gave out bonuses and raises to the top brass...

  6. Maybe if they put more stuff people don't read behind the paywall it would solve their problem.

  7. Just close it down already!

  9. They really should just pull the plug on that commie rag.

  10. Is it safe to assume that taxpayer money is no longer paying for them to write lies and conspiracy theories any more?

  11. They hired Dave helling to write how conservatives are very bad people. Kiss of death.

  12. They should just replace their staff with monkeys. If a monkey mashes a keyboard long enough theoretically one of them will mash Shakespeare out eventually. Even if they didn't, monkeys would still write better than the shite they've published over the last 50 years. The funniest part is that they still have a handful of fools that pay for that raw sewage.

  13. Will their generous tax breaks follow them to the new location?
Remember. They got those breaks because they were so committed to downtown KCMO!
Why don't their readers start a Go Fund Me page to help them out?
It's amazing that this crew can be so arrogant and such a failure simultaneously.
Apparently sanctimony just doesn't sell like it used to.
    Sad.

  14. yep..who didn't see this coming?

props to ol 'uber-lib Hate Whitey Lewey Dikweed! Reading his racist shit-screeds made me bail on the Star 10 years ago..it's only gotten to be even more of an uber-lib crapsicle since.

    Good riddance to bad rubbish!

  16. The Marxist Editorials cost those poor production workers their jobs.

Elite Marxist Journalists do not care about the working class.

The only true beneficiaries of Marxism are the Communist Government Bureaucrat elites. Sadly that appears that is the direction the U.S. is headed after this stolen election.

I think it is beyond being saved. They write such drivel and over half of the average paper is written by the New York Crimes Newspaper staff and is totally uninteresting to most of us locally. The Editorial board with head bitch Colleen wouldn't know what the people in KC would like to see but maybe if they would hold it up to a mirror and realize we are 180 degrees polar opposite of their view of our area. Even Dave Helling who use to be a good journalist couldn't put together one cohesive piece a month if he had to. Move the printing to Des Moines, we don't care. Claw back the tax breaks first Mayor Q.

  21. Here is a brilliant idea for Fanin:

Move it into one of those prefabs that Home Depot has in front of their store.

    What difference would it make?

To help pay for the expected cost of the building (free) if they just leave it in Home Depot’s lot - and move if someone buys it... kinda like they do now- they could give tours of their old place via Uber and just drive by their two old homes including the now glass debacle and say- that where we went all lib and sold our souls!

  22. Save even more money; just close it down. No one would notice or care.

  23. Get WOKE go BROKE. RED STAR RAG. Now they can all get jobs surfing ballot boxes.

  24. I hope and pray that the Star stays alive long enough to publish its eagerly anticipated series on gun violence. The top notch minds at the Star are sure to come up with great ideas and innovative thinking on the subject. If the series is as well thought out and as persuasive as their editorials are, the gun owners and gun grabbers are sure to find common ground.
