Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas License Fee Incentive Silenced Small Biz. For Now.

The latest political gambit from City Hall deserves attention because it has been effective at quieting criticism of the mayor for the moment.

Here's a glimpse at local small biz hoping to get a break on KCMO costs and dutifully complying with the 12th & Oak honcho . . .

KMBC: KC businesses hurting from COVID-19 restrictions hope for some help from city

Deets . . .

The mayor suggested that businesses could soon see a reduction in fees from the city. "Any type of help for small businesses is appreciated, especially when it is cash, such as a permit fee as opposed to a tax break, where you have to be profitable in order to make a tax break work," Andy Rieger, president of J. Rieger Company said.

Whilst that kind of groveling isn't pretty, it's a sign of success for the Mayor amid an apocalypse for local small biz.

Of course we'll have to see if there's any follow through on the mayor's promise but here's the punchline . . .

KANSAS CITY SMALL BIZ IS SO DESPERATE THAT EVEN A HINT AT A DISCOUNT HAS INSPIRED COMPLIANCE!!!

In the long run this strategy of appeasement won't work as one biz after the next shuts down.

But for the moment, forlorn merchants will be forced to play along with Mayor's Q leadership charade whilst Kansas City residents are reminded that silence is purchased for cheap in this dirty little town.

  1. All of the places the mayor put out of business won't be silent for long.

  2. You mean to say that some people actually have to sell something to a customer in order to earn a living?
Not everyone gets a couple checks every month from some mysterious place funded by the taxpayers?
    Who knew!

  3. Gee thanx Q Ball! Hope they don't spend that worthless gesture all in one place. 😏🍿

  4. Mayor q thinks he's smart but when the fee break doesn't come for most busineses, that'll just make them even madder.

  5. But will this fee reduction really be honored later on? We have all seen the cheap talk this Mayor is good at spewing out.

  6. Lucas and the council could give up the huge raises they gave themselves.

  9. Now these comments are typical of greedy white men claiming to be a victim. Never satisfied with anything, always got a grievance. If you guy don't like it here in KC, then moved your funky asses out into the rural towns with the rest of your Trump loving trailer trash.

Sorry that you have avoided reality this long.

Go buy a clue with somebody else's money please.

  12. The welfare abusers should be very nervous because the usual taxes aren’t coming through and that means they’re facing cuts in their welfare checks or cutoff completely, stupid idiots don’t understand one bit of where all this money comes from.

Qball knows the federal gubmint with China flu joe will give him money eventually, businesses struggling to stay afloat or that went out of business don’t get one penny. This just proves to everybody that mayor lickass doesn’t give a shit about anybody but himself.

By the way, where is lickass? Out of town on the taxpayers dime again?

  13. 1:19 no, that’s your typical whoa is me sorry ass excuse for being worthless and not getting a job. Go get a job pussy, there’s tons of them out there.

  14. Professor McDrinkerson fails in a big way yet again. Somewhere an introductory class is missing its brave leader.

  15. 1:45 I agree about the welfare cutoffs because majority of people on welfare are poor white people.

  16. Actually it’s blacks leading whitey, blacks are 39.8% and whites are 38.8%

    Facts are a bitch

  17. KCMO is going to have to start writing checks to businesses in January to refund 2020 business licenses. Payments are based on previous year sales. The 2021 renewals, again based on 2020 sales, will be down. As will business etax on profit (zero profit zero etax). On top of already lower etax payments on wages this year.

  18. 2:17 Remember - blacks only make up 12% of the population, so in actuality they are way disproportionate in representation of what parasites they are.

  19. Meanwhile, your dumbass kid, is even dumber than you thought he/she was - thanks to the brilliant idea of "Lockdowns".

    In Virginia -

"Failing grades in one of Virginia's most prominent school districts have spiked this quarter compared to the same time last year, likely signaling the difficulties students, parents, teachers and administrators have faced in moving the local educational system over to "virtual" learning amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Those troubling numbers are drawn from a report from the school district's Office of Research and Strategic Improvement, which the district commissioned after learning that students were struggling with the school's online-only educational structure, which has been in placed since April.

Middle and high school students with failing grades in two or more classes throghout Fairfax County Public Schools were up 83% in the first quarter of the 2020-21 school year compared to the same quarter last year, with the share of F-marks jumping from 6% of all grades to 11%, nearly doubling.

Among younger students the increases were significantly higher. Middle school students overall saw a 300% increase in Fs; female middle schoolers saw a jump of 600%. Disabled students and Hispanic students both saw jumps of 400%.

The overall 83% spike in Fs was also more pronounced among individual demographics district-wide: Hispanic students saw a 92% jump in flunking grades, while English learner students saw a 106% increase. Students with disabilities, as identified by the report, saw their failing grades go up overall by 111%.

By raw numbers, the total number of Fs handed out district-wide jumped from 5359 in the first quarter of 2019 to 9698 this quarter."

Prior to the "Lockdown" 'strategy', KC Public School kids were too stupid to get the humor in "Dumber and Dumber". Now, as the lights go out of already dim bulbs, their eyes glazing over watching "Worldstar", you can measure the precipitous decline in IQ with a fuckin turkey baster.

So grateful, as I am sure all of you small business owners are, that the mayor is in charge.

By the way, I am really grateful also, to Dominion, who knew when I voted for Trump, I really wanted to vote for Biden.

What a great Thanksgiving. Can't wait for Christman mr. mayor.

    1. I can't wait for Christman either, shithead.

Maybe if fewer dumbfucks like you, chuck, had worn masks, taken basic precautions and helped stop the spread of this virus instead of turning it into a political issue about YOUR FREEDUMS, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in, chuck.

But I wouldn't expect that from you. Not for a second.
