Kansas City Highway Vaporware Debuts

When this plan (never) happens, our blog will hand over a week's worth of coverage to promote the Green New Deal and bluegrass music . . . We'll also include a few interludes that offer insight into Hikaru Dorodango and other oddball hobbies that are actually more practical than amateur urban planning.

Council unveils 4 ideas to bridge the divide a highway created between River Market, Columbus Park

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The bustling River Market is a hotspot for attractive boutique shops, visitors from out of town and those looking to live in rustic loft apartments. However, the Columbus Park neighborhood next door hasn't enjoyed the same attention, despite being only a few blocks away from the heart of the action.

  1. Option 5 - do none of that crap and let the cold hard facts of Economics determine whether either the River Market or Columbus Park can make it.

  2. River market is dying as is Kansas City itself. Worry about what needs to be done to the infrastructure of the city and getting tourists back and getting crime gone. Tell the racist moron Lucas to stop putting the cart before the horse.

  4. How about some "council ideas" about how to fill the gaping hole in the city budget so that more workers who actually provide basic services to resident don't have to be laid off?
The focus on upside-down priorities just never ends.
Would the last person to leave KCMO please turn off the lights.

  5. ^^We're still here dummy. Not going anywhere. In fact, our city is expanding not contracting. Sorry, not sorry. Go die off please.

  6. How cute. They are still pretending that KC’s finances are solvent and the downtown area isn’t collapsing into a miasma of crime and squalor.

  7. The final plan will be considered and implemented before any consideration is given to fixing potholes or lowering the murder rate.

  8. ^^and you're powerless to do a damned thing about it.

  10. The stupid idea of ruining 6th street and making a freeway noose represents the triumph of bureaucracy over democracy. Cookingham and his out-of-Townes and “reformers” deliberately targeted the Pendergast strong wards like river quay and that is why they ripped the shit out of al those close in buildings. And houses. To destroy the population supporting the old guard elected leaders. The local people and their elected officials of course opposed the idea.

We all regret the loop now but I don’t want to give the geniuses at the port authority and MARC a hundred acres of streetscapes to do stupid debt-laden things with.
