Kansas City COVID-19 Curfew Crackdown Ruined Chiefs Game For Fans & Small Biz

Last night's Chiefs game offered a terrifying glimpse into the "dark days" of Winter ahead for local bar biz.

To wit . . .

KANSAS CITY SMALL BIZ SUFFERED HORRIFIC LOST REVENUE AFTER MAYOR Q'S CURFEW PUSHED PATRONS OUT BEFORE THE END OF THE CHIEFS GAME!!!

Westport was a ghost town, the Plaza was empty, P&L District served only a smattering of patrons whilst our JoCo friends report that bars on the nicer side of the state line managed to accommodate more biz whilst still obeying safety precautions.

Moreover, local entertainment district insiders contend that the continued crackdown will undoubtedly chase more customers away and take a toll on local jobs.

New bar curfew has some making adjustments in the metro

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - There's a new curfew in place parts of the metro. Bars and restaurants in Kansas City, along with Jackson and Wyandotte counties, can no longer be open past 10 p.m. On the first weekend of these new restrictions the Kansas City Chiefs are playing a night game.

  1. Actually, coronavirus, and the lack of any stimulus package is killing small business. The fact that people are still arguing that staying open is the best way forward is idiotic at best and dangerous at worst. Small business owners don't want to stay open for the very few morons who would come to their bars between 10-12 on a Sunday night. Business is down because coronavirus is up and most people are staying home. To argue that this is somehow because of the Mayor is just Tony trying to rile up his reader base that don't live in the city and haven't been to a bar in Westport in decades. If we actually had a lockdown and stopped the spread of the virus, the ECONOMY WOULD OPEN SOONER. How you morons don't understand that is beyond confusing. Look at every other country that has managed this rather than relying on whatever your uncle is posting on facebook.

    1. I'm going to guess you have never owned a business. Hell, you probably just arrived at work at City Hall.

  4. chief personnel/players need to figure out which playoff location to lose at to keep the loss of money for taxes from playoff winnings to a minimum.

wear a mask, sanitize hands after touching stuff and maintain your distances.

  5. So here’s the proper strategy for a night game. Instead of watching the game and then getting drunk and high and fucking some slut, re-arrange the order. Get drunk and high and fuck some slut then watch the game.

  6. Holy cow, ppl getting the common cold during cold and flu season.

Corona virus is the common cold virus, the tests can't tell the difference.

  7. As the lord high mayor has decreed, losing your business, your job, your livelihood, and your self-respect is “minor shit”. Everyone knows that the virus in Jackson County is dangerous a whole two hours earlier than it is in Johnson County. It is SCIENCE!

  8. I am a former business owner. This is just the way it goes. When you own a business, you have many things that can ruin your revenue - huge ice storms, plaza flood, gas line explosions like the one on the Plaza, riots like the ones on the plaza, striking staff wanting $15 per hour, competition, food violations shutting you down, employees stealing money, increases in rent.

Its easier to buy a $500 suit, put on a nice watch and work for someone else. That way you only have spent a bit on clothes and have NONE of your own money invested.

  12. If you're dumb enough to go to a fucking bar during a pandemic that's already caused 250,000 deaths, you get what you deserve.

  13. ^^^What I deserved was the pale ale I ordered, and I got it. So I suppose you're right 1:25.

Not much chance of either one happening though.

  17. C'mon 8:14, are you telling me people getting shit faced, hugging and singing along to The Killers Mr. Brightside at full capacity, spit flying through the air, screaming their orders and bartenders and the such isn't a healthy recipe during a pandemic?

Damn you and your reasonable logic!

  20. Mayor has no business making these rules unless there's a decent stimulus package. How are people supposed to pay their bills? What an idiot our mayor is.
