Animal rights activists have constantly protested this practice that is now proudly on display once again at our favorite embattled entertainment district.

Plaza carriage rides adapt amid COVID-19 pandemic to bring holiday cheer
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Right before sunset, horse-drawn carriages emerge on the streets of the Country Club Plaza to be a part of the holiday sights and sounds -- with a few changes. "We're in the business of making memories for families and traditions," Bobby McGee with Kansas City Carriages told 41 Action News, "and that's what we're continuing to do in a safe and responsible way.
ReplyDeleteIs there any out on the Plaza to ride them? That scene looks pretty desolate.
Is it cruel to work? If these horses didn't have a job, what would happen to them? I don't think there are "free" pastures.

ReplyDeleteNow that's livin'
I am an animal lover, including horses. As long as they are being properly cared for, I don’t think it’s abusive to have them doing a job they’re bred to do. That being said, I think the carriage rides should only operate while the Xmas lights are on. It does seem cruel to have the horses out on pavement in August heat. Not to mention, the smell isn’t too great in the summer either.
