Jackson County Exec Frank White Seyz Statues Aren't Appropriate As Voters Endorse Keeping Prez Andrew Jackson Tribute

More than anything, last night's voter endorsement of monuments to old school slaver & Native American killer Prez Andrew Jackson should offer Kansas City voters "a sense of place" as to how the electorate really feels regarding social justice protest and vandalism.

TKC DOES NOT claim voters who chose to keep the statues are racist . . . However, it's clear that bombastic pronouncements of racism and oppression do not help to convince the local electorate.

Sadly, this is a lesson that Exec White still hasn't learned given his statement after the vote.

Check-it:

Jackson County Executive issues statement on Andrew Jackson statue election results

“I am proud to have stood up and stood on behalf of a movement demanding fairness, justice and equality in Jackson County. I remain committed in my belief that the statues of a man who owned slaves, caused thousands of Native Americans to die and never stepped foot in our County should be removed from our public facilities. The statues are not an appropriate representation of who we are and who we strive to be as a community – a community that is welcoming, diverse and open-minded. I have a tremendous amount of respect for our democratic process, and while I may not always agree with the outcome, I believe there is something we can learn from every election. I look forward to engaging in more opportunities to eliminate racism and discrimination in Jackson County as we continue the fight for equal rights and justice for those we serve.”

  1. Frank White needs to step down. There are better Democrats to assume the Executive position. This was a vote on Frank White. If he continues to serve it will begin to impair his baseball record. Announce you won’t run again and people will show you much love. You were a great second baseman for the KC Royals. Get out of politics and take a job in baseball. Someone will hire you. You are hurting yourself and your good legacy by staying in politics. Politics is hurting you. Baseball loves you. Be the hero not a zero.

  5. Just a continuation of completely irrelevant priorities and endless empty rhetoric.
How about weighing in on property taxes and violence?
You know. Some issues that residents actually care about.

  7. The only people who are discriminated against in Jackson County are white. It is much more favorable to black in this dysfunctional kleptocracy.

  8. Rather than referring to Old Hickory as a Indian killer, I would suggest you do some cursory study of the Creek Indian War and our allies (the non-Red Stick Creeks) and perhaps take a gander at the massacre's at Ft. Mims. While your at it you might study the War of 1812 and why you aren't British.

A great many of our forefathers had slaves. Something like eight of the signers? While repugnant today it was a fact of life then. Without slavery, the South had no way to feed the country and the North would not have been able to tax the South for imports. Learn from it and get on with why we all ought to be nicer to each other. If judged "ex post facto" many on us might not pass muster.

  9. Who are we as a nation if we elect black people in the office when it was black people who sold each other into slavery. Follow the logic Frank and then resign your office!

  12. Frank should be more worried about the decline of his City due to his Bros/Sistas constant acts of violence. Out solving murders instead of helping endorse them. Weird

  15. The descendants of Cherokee Nancy Ward live on the east side of Kansas City. Jackson made his name on the backs of the Cherokee in every campaign and every battle. 8 generations later our Cherokee aunts, uncles & cousins still remember the old ways.

  16. Ok Frank lets make a deal: The Andrew Jackson statues will come down if we can change your retired number at the K from 20 to 14.9

  17. Shut up, Frank. Go pay your taxes and let the grown ups handle Jackson County’s issues. And remember, it’s Jackson as in Andrew Jackson. You lost and voters with sense won.
