Good Morning Kansas City, You're Racist!!!

Investment in communities is nice but what our blog readers have noticed is that culture war politics backed up by a modicum of understanding about local history have been used to support sketchy investments that never seem to pay off for neighborhoods or taxpayers.

For better or worse, we share yet another reminder regarding this town's sordid real estate backstory and part of the reason why middle-class politicos & bureaucrats are so confused about urban development.

Redlining in Kansas City: The history, the long-lasting effects and the new push to reverse it

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - There's a new generation of Kansas Citians working to reverse the negative effects of redlining on the city's eastside. James Watts has lived in the home his parents bought on 21st Street for most of his life. "It was a limited choice," the 71-year-old said.

  2. Being called racist has no meaning anymore.

A white person can give black people 50% of his property and the black person will still call the white person a racist for keeping the other 50% for himself.

Witnessed EEOC, Affirmative Action, Hate Crime Legislation, Trillions in Section 8, Medicaid, food stamps, welfare payments, job hiring and promotion preference, free college tuition and admittance; all for Blacks.

And yet, Black people still scream racism and act in their own peculiar self-destructive violent and uncivilized ways.

Black victimhood will never end; and the "Woke" college students of today will realize that after 10 years of paying taxes and being in the work force.

    2. All black folks have to do is keep their money in their on communities, build their own businesses, which will build their own wealth. Whites will see you in a different manner when they don't receive that black dollar. Right now Blacks have nothing of their own because their of a jealous race. Why do you think they kill each other on a daily. They're taught to hate what looks like you.

Or did you already forget the memo from Trump that the invasion of Iraq was stupid and the troops are looser?

  10. Another waste of time and money. You could move the blacks into Mission Hills and Leawood and within a month those places would look like Grandview and Raytown. It’s just how they live. I’d challenge anyone to name a once-white neighborhood that improved or maintained its looks and value once blacks started moving in. You can’t.

  11. Wow why not look at what happen's to white people who venture over to the east side stop making it look like this is a white problem when it's a black problem. The time of reaching out to black people and helping them is OVER. The ones who move into the burbs are finding that out they aren't wanted and they aren't welcome. Time for the truth to come out.

  12. What kind of job would a black man have that would enable he and his family a chance for a bank loan for a home?

Is it possible the banker couldn't see a way of the loan being able to be payed back?

I'm talking about legal ways of making money, not bank robbers, moonshine runners, etc.

  13. 8:40, we’re talking about KC neighborhoods, not white projects that blacks worked on in the south. Stay on topic. Name a once-white neighborhood in the KC metro that has maintained or improved after blacks moved in. They always turn to shit.

  14. 8:29: Are you aware that there are many black people who could buy and sell you many times over, although that wouldn't take much in your case.

8:42: Given your illiterate post, I doubt you read much, but if you'll try to make it through "The Color of Law," by Richard Rothstein, you'll see how returning vets, who were legally entitled to no money down loans, were denied access to housing after WWII. And it didn't stop there. You might be surprised that many black people, unlike you, are middle class and quite capable of qualifying for and paying off a mortgage. They were denied that opportunity, and were, therefore, denied access to the appreciation in home prices that whites take for granted. That is, whites who, unlike you, could qualify for and pay off a mortgage.

  17. 8:40 - "Georgia. Vastly better. Without blacks, no railroads, no buildings, totally different accent talking through the nose, no music except trad English music so the whites would have all killed themselves."

Irish, Italian, German, Polish and Chinese immigrants built the nation's railroads, canals, dams, buildings and highways.

Same immigrants farmed and fed America and worked in America's packing plants.

Same immigrants worked in America's factories to make America the greatest economic power on earth.

Your revisionist history along with Hollywood's fairy tales are laughable.

The only thing Blacks did during the building of America was picked cotton which a two year old could do. From 1964 forward, Blacks held out their hands for welfare payments.

  20. i thought it was frank and railroad magnate morton who built the railroads - it's depicted in the western movie named once upon a time in the west.

all i remember seeing were white people.

  21. From the article: "The effects of the now illegal practice are still seen today. The eastside is plagued with poverty and vacant and blight homes."

There was redlining. There are now poverty and vacant homes. Therefore, the redlining must be the cause of poverty and vacant homes.

That's a great example of the post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy. I think it's BLM's favorite fallacy, although they do use many others. Critical race theory is built on it.

  22. "They were denied that opportunity, and were, therefore, denied access to the appreciation in home prices that whites take for granted." 8:57, are you arguing that appreciation in home prices only happened in white communities? Why didn't homes appreciate in black communities? (I'm sure that was Whitey's fault somehow, but please explain how.)

  23. Gee. Maybe it was because the new suburbs were, like, newer, whiter, closer to good schools, had floor plans that fit the times and black people were confined to older, more run down parts of town because of restrictive deeds and lending discrimination. What do you think the problem might have been?

    ReplyDelete
  24. There is nothing keeping black people from purchasing a home anywhere they like! Just pay the price! Oh, but you don’t have the money? Perhaps you should have stayed in school, continued your education like others before you, got a decent job, become respectable in the community and saved your money LIKE THE REST OF US!!!!!!!!!! Geez, the black race has been given EVERY opportunity to join the human race and just refuse to do it!!!! THEY ARE THE PERPETUAL VICTIMS and I for one just don’t give a rats ass about them anymore!

  25. I lived in Armour Hills in the 80's with POC's. Redlining hasn't been a thing for over 40 years. Find something else to bitch about. All the Asian H1-B programmers in OP,KS living in $400,000 houses wonder what the fucking fuss is about.

  26. If you move away so your kids will have a good school; if you move away to escape crime; if you move away because you are racist; all three of you will be neighbors. An inconvenient truth.

    ReplyDelete
  27. JC, you built every decent neighborhood in KC south of the river. That's why they hate you.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I don’t know why blacks can’t understand that some people just don’t want them around. It’s just human nature. Not everyone is going to celebrate and coddle them. Most people have sense enough to stay away from where they’re not wanted, but not blacks. They will crash anywhere at any time without an invitation.
