Even With A Coronavirus Vaccine, Midwest Airports Will Likely Need Years To Recover

WICHITA, Kansas -Katie Hansen's recent trip from Columbus, Ohio, through Chicago O'Hare International Airport to Wichita felt pretty familiar. Sure, several restaurants sat closed, but O'Hare looked busy, and her flights were full. "If people didn't have masks on," Hansen said, "there would be nothing different."

  1. There were calls on this blog to do an immediate stop work on the project and reevaluate the financial assumptions behind the project. Since the boy blunder and the city clowncil do not understand business or finance they just let things continue until now a fiscal disaster is imminent. Oh well. You cannot expect competence from elected officials.

    1. A billion dollar contract with no circuit breakers. But hey, George Brett thought it was a good idea. I guess the taxpayers get to hold the bag. Burns and McDonnell contributes to Slie's campaign. He reiprocates with an airport. No we are all effed.

  2. COVID didn't ruin the new and unnecessary KCI, Kansas City, corruption, mismanagement and incompetence ruined the new and unnecessary KCI and now y'all are stuck with the bill and a project that might be completed in the next decade. πŸ˜πŸΏπŸ™„

  3. Wasn't one of the old terminals already demolished?

  4. We are having a new airport and it will be wonderful! There's nothing anything you fools can do to stop it! Love the progress in KC! It is such a vibrant and terrific place to live!

  5. Two terminals was all KC needed anymore. Still better than continuing to build a new terminal with 45 gates and demolishing the remaining two with 120 gates between them.

  6. A new bridge at Independence Avenue and Wilson would have been a lot cheaper and more useful. πŸ˜πŸΏπŸ™„

  7. ^^and yet since that's a railroad bridge, the railroads are responsible for replacing it though. Stupid mother fucker.

  8. And yet cities work with railroads all the time. Weird.

  9. ^^and yet the railroad is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and new bridge construction. Stupid motherfucker. Weird.

  10. Not even going to bother explaining how and why those projects get done. It would be well above your pay grade. Stick to asking people, "Do you want fries with that?" would ya? Good luck with that airport! I'm enjoying watching it fail like I said it and the rest of KC's infrastructure would. Laugh all ya want. I ain't paying for it. πŸ™„ Welcome to New Detroit!

  11. ^^Ha! You can't explain it because you got knocked the fuck out by 10:29AM LOL! Idiotic, geriatric-fucktard!

  12. Just as with higher taxes, I can but chose not to. I'm content to set back and watch it fail. You go take care of that drive thru k Millie?

  13. The third terminal was only used for sLIE and his crooked butt buddies to use, hell, gopher boi was giving blowjobs to incoming dignitaries just to get them excited about coming to this third world shithole!

  14. ^^and yet you've never been to the airport. Hell, you've never left your rented trailer in Frogville, and it shows. Weird.

  15. Long term, the eventual result will probably be an opening for OP to build a new commercial airport in south Johnson County. Once traffic starts landing there because of lower fees, KCI will quickly collapse and the burn out of KCMO will accelerate. Downtown convention business will never come back and neither will the entertainment and shopping districts on the Missouri side. The final nail in the coffin will be the moving of professional sports to Kansas with the new stadiums they will build for the Chiefs and the Royals.

  16. ^and yet a new airport in OPK would be tens of billions more than renovating KCI. How does that make sense you worthless, good-for-nothing morning? People are so dumb, so dumb.

  17. For a long time, well before the new kci was even thought of, I'd examined South joco for a major airport. There is simply no space available. South mid and east there's too much money. South West, no space or inconvenient for travel. The old gov base, sunflower IIRC would work but no more convenient than kci. And probably further for most travelers than current. I do not believe there will be a southern airport within two or three decades.

  18. 2:10 the cost to renovate kci was almost half of what it cost to build the new one. You idiot dimwits and your “fuzzy math” You people lie about everything and you can’t wven do simple math. Weird.
