Tonight we stand at a crossroads with two historic threats confronting this town.
The numbers . . .
Kansas City has tied a historic murder count and recorded 153 homicides so far this year.
That is the highest number since 1993 and compares to only 124 murders at this time last year.
Similarly . . .
The KCMO Health Department reports 172 COVID-19 deaths so far this year with 13,792 lab-confirmed infections.
Across the U.S. Heartland that number is spiking and will likely grow worse as cold & flu season quickly arrives.
And so we ask our blog community for insight, guidance and perspective . . .
SHOULD KANSAS CITY FEAR THE HISTORIC MURDER COUNT MORE THAN COVID-19?!?

The reality is that both of these historic threats confront Kansas City and worsen this town's other problems like housing, transit, development and the ongoing debate betwixt urban leaders vs. police.
