The quotient of Kansas City misery continues to rise and right now our blog community highlights a noteworthy stat that local MSM has overlooked.
To wit . . .
THE PANDEMIC IS NOW A LEADING KILLER OF KANSAS CITY RESIDENTS!!!
Perspective . . . Of course car crashes, heart disease and cancer are more fatal but not as easily transmittable according to health experts.
Nevertheless, the coronavirus death count seems to be gaining momentum whilst the local homicide spike, whilst still at a record-breaking pace, has thankfully slowed this week.
A look at the numbers . . .
According to police stats, Kansas City, Missouri has recorded 147 homicide so far in 2020 compared to 117 at this time last year for an overall spike of 25% YTD.
The all-time Kansas City record for annual murders is 153 which KCMO will likely break sometimes this month.
Meanwhile . . .
There have been 151 deaths from COVID-19 and 12,816 according to stats shared by the KCMO Health Department on Friday.
Accordingly . . . This data juxtaposition might not be important for other cities but in KCMO deniers of the virus were using the disparity between murders vs. COVID-19 deaths in order to downplay the severity of the pandemic and highlight the tragic homicide stat in order to attack local officials.
Now that pandemic deaths exceed the homicide count and seem to be garnering momentum, we expect that coronavirus deniers will reject the statistics altogether when, in fact, the numbers reveal that the pandemic is now the biggest challenge confronting Kansas City and the nation.
