SHOCK!!! KC TENANTS CHAIN DOORS IN PROTEST AND TEMPORARILY SHUT DOWN JACKSON COUNTY COURTHOUSE!!!

Kansas City protesters have escalated their tactics this morning in a desperate move to prevent more evictions.

Here's the mission statement of today's planned demonstration by KC Tenants . . .

"Even though there is a national ban on evictions, local landlords are still evicting their tenants, and the courts are letting it happen. Since September 1, landlords have filed 607+ evictions against their tenants. This is AFTER the CDC issued a federal eviction moratorium to keep people in their homes as the pandemic continues to rage through communities like ours. Every eviction is an act of violence, now and always."

A peek at the demonstration . . .

"KC Tenants has blockaded the court entrance. 6 people have chained the doors. The people have closed court for today. Every eviction is an act of violence. #endevictions"

Police only detained organizers for a moment . . . They're free now and claiming a victory today.

Meanwhile, across the nation the eviction crisis is growing worse in both urban AND SUBURBAN communities as the main street economy has failed to rebound despite stock market gains and increasingly desperate Americans are still waiting on more stimulus that's being used as a campaign season bargaining chip.

Sorry the CDC does not make local law. So the landlords can tell the CDC to pound sand. Their attorney's know the law and that's why the cases are being filed and the local courts are acting on them.

Stacy the Witch Shaw knows this so her only recourse is to try and stop people from entering the court house.

I'll say this much, if a white man were to chain the doors closed like that he'd be in teh jail as we speak already being cornholed.

You turn on TV news and they never talk about all the evictions that take place in KC but I'm seeing more in Wyandotte and Johnson county.

People are running out of money quickly and it's something that is getting worse, not better. Thank heavens these protesters are giving the issue the attention that it needs.

You do that even though you might get cancer, be in a disabling wreck, be injured by random gunfire, be hurt in a commercial airline crash, have a spouse walk out on you, have a bank account cleaned out by fraud. All those people in the past that were effected by those types of "bad luck" still had to pay rent. Their contract didnt say if something bad happens you can live free.

Landlords are going to sell their properties to people wanting permanent homes and there will be much less rental property in the future. Apartments will go condo. Renters had better buy a place now or move in with relatives. The fact China released a deadly virus from a bio-lab by accident doesnt let you off the hook for rent.

Do you think the water department will allow me to not pay their bill? Do you think I can stop making bank loan payments? Do you think I can stop paying taxes and making insurance payments on these properties? Where is my relief? You know what I did? I got another job. I am now delivering pizzas to make ends meet. Then I work a regular job. In the evenings I take care of my own properties, and then do yard work and landscaping. None of my tenants offered to do anything to help out. Not one offered to pay for their water bill. Not one asked if they could help with the lawn. They just said they weren't paying. I kicked their asses out as soon as the courts opened. I had tenants with jobs lining up to rent the homes afterward. Jackson County didn't jack around. They were out quick. Clay County was a little slower, but they eventually came through. Tenants need to move back home or pool their resources and move in together or something. I am not welfare. #evict_2020

  30. Trump's executive order establishing an eviction moratorium does not affect landlords' ability to file an eviction action with the court. Nor does the order protect all tenants. It only applies to tenants who fall within income parameters, have sought but failed to secure funding from other sources, will become homeless if evicted, etc. And the tenant has to certify under oath that she meets all the criteria. Only then does the moratorium apply.

But the rent charges, late fees and so on do not stop. They will accumulate until the tenant is ultimately evicted. And by that time the total is likely to be large enough in many cases that the landlord will find it worth the effort and expense of filing suit to recover the debt, and it's likely that the leases also provide for recovery of attorneys' fees. When that happens, lots of tenants will wish they had just left the rented premises when originally asked instead of coping with a public record of a court judgment against them.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Stop lying! Tenants only have to provide a statement to the landlord. The oath is just Dem activist judge shit.

And if you think anyone needs a lecture about all the potential repercussions except becoming homeless you are a moron.

This is not a Republican vs Democrat problem. Both are complicit in this mess. Both are working hand in hand with each other against the best interest of the common people.

Lockdowns not stringent enough for you? Just delaying the inevitable. Mask mandate? People who wear masks all the time are getting sick. Only something like a respirator is designed to completely block the transmission and reception of aerosol germs. Even the CDC says masks aren't designed to protect the wearer. Did Trump provide ventilators? Did he send the troops and a hospital ship to NYC? Has he fast-paced therapies? What else could he have done, Dr. Fauci? Who aren't we taking care of? This pandemic affects old people with comorbidities. Not much we can do but isolate those people and it is obviously not what Americans want to do, especially if you are old and infirm in NY and NJ, where the bulk of people are dying. 38. Agree with 1:54 that too much money is spent on the defense budget but would rather the funds be spent on infrastructure like new water, sewer lines, bridges, roads etc. instead of more handouts or increased government bureaucrat pensions.

China accidentally released this virus from their Wuhan bio lab. The Communist Chinese are to blame for this quickly mutating virus that has spread across the world.

The Media and Democrats blaming Trump is just plain stupid as every country is battling this virus from China.

Dr. Fauci has been a Medical Government Bureaucrat for 50 years. Why in the hell didn't Fauci, Birx or the CDC have a plan and supplies in place to address a pandemic.

President Trump had to step in and micro-manage Fauci's and Birx areas of responsibility in order to quickly produce ventilators, masks, and other PPE equipment plus fast track a vaccine.

The President shouldn't have had to do all of that but Fauci, Birx and CDC were negligent and unprepared.

Trump has boorish behavior at times and I wish he would lay off Twitter, but the guy truly loves America, our Constitution and working Americans. You see it at the rallies and his supporters appreciate his efforts.

Instead of hiding in the basement like Joe Biden for six months, President Trump risked his health accomplishing all of the above while the media and Democrats sat on their asses and criticized 24 / 7.

I will take a confident leader like Trump as our Commander in Chief than a corrupt basement dweller like Joe Biden that sold out American workers to the Chinese and Ukraine to make himself rich.

One final note; Trump's kids are all good, talented young men and women.

Hunter Biden is a corrupt, drug head kicked out of the U.S. Military and still doing drugs while accepting bribes from China and the Ukraine.

You can judge a man's character often by how their kids act and behave.

  42. Applicability
Under this Order, a landlord, owner of a residential property, or other person [3] with a legal right to pursue eviction or possessory action, shall not evict any covered person from any residential property in any jurisdiction to which this Order applies during the effective period of the Order. This Order does not apply in any State, local, territorial, or tribal area with a moratorium on residential evictions that provides the same or greater level of public-health protection than the requirements listed in this Order. Nor does this order apply to American Samoa, which has reported no cases of COVID-19, until such time as cases are reported.
In accordance with 42 U.S.C. 264(e), this Order does not preclude State, local, territorial, and tribal authorities from imposing additional requirements that provide greater public-health protection and are more restrictive than the requirements in this Order.

This Order is a temporary eviction moratorium to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. This Order does not relieve any individual of any obligation to pay rent, make a housing payment, or comply with any other obligation that the individual may have under a tenancy, lease, or similar contract. Nothing in this Order precludes the charging or collecting of fees, penalties, or interest as a result of the failure to pay rent or other housing payment on a timely basis, under the terms of any applicable contract.

  43. Renter's or Homeowner's Declaration
Attachment A is a Declaration form that tenants, lessees, or residents of residential properties who are covered by the CDC's order temporarily halting residential evictions to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 may use. To invoke the CDC's order these persons must provide an executed copy of the Declaration form (or a similar declaration under penalty of perjury) to their landlord, owner of the residential property where they live, or other person who has a right to have them evicted or removed from where they live. Each adult listed on the lease, rental agreement, or housing contract should likewise complete and provide a declaration. Unless the CDC order is extended, changed, or ended, the order prevents these persons from being evicted or removed from where they are living through December 31, 2020. These persons are still required to pay rent and follow all the other terms of their lease and rules of the place where they live. These persons may also still be evicted for reasons other than not paying rent or making a housing Start Printed Page 55293payment. Executed declarations should not be returned to the Federal Government.

  74. The bigger thing that isn’t being addressed, all the property owners who have bills to pay. And when these people who can’t pay their bills ........ the owner of the property can’t pay theirs, it goes into default and into foreclosure and eventually will wind up in the same place except with more collateral damage. All these judges are doing are enforcing the law. If these people are too stupid or too lazy to file the right paperwork and present it to the court or the landlord in a timely manner, ...... they’re getting what they deserve.

This is the problem with the democratic party. It is truly the “more free shit“ party. They’re all for bigger government more oversight and more dependence on the government for everything. The Republican platform primarily stands for a free market, smaller government and more dependent on your self.

Those who are chaining themselves to buildings and doors and living in tent city as well as the spineless sheriff, the moronic prosecutor and the gaggle of idiots running City Hall, the “” elected officials”. These are prime examples of what your democratic party represents.

The silent majority has got to become more vocal and involved. Or these idiots are going to continue to run this place into the ground.

If you want this shit show that is St. Louis, let everything continue as it is because were on a perfect course to get there very quickly. Otherwise we need to send a very clear message that we need to reverse course and stop some of the goofiness that’s going on

And if you think St. Louis is a nice place, well, you’re obviously deranged. St. Louis is undoubtedly the unclean ass###e of the Midwest.

If you notice, in the areas where the silent majority live, in Clay County, Platte County, and Cass county, this sort of stupidness doesn’t occur.

Until somebody sends a very clear message to the Jackson County prosecutor, the Jackson County Sheriff, and the idiot running City Hall, things are never going to improve in our city

All of you morons on here that qualify for the “failure to launch” group who still live in mom’s basement or are sapping off of mom and dad and are in your 30s or 40s, you really don’t have a say in this or a seat at the table. You are no more than children that never grew up. Leave the discussion to the grownups.
