MAYOR QUINTON LUCAS PROMISES KANSAS CITY PREPPED FOR SNOW!!!

Once again this town rushes to secure bread & milk and panics over a couple of inches snow predicted.

Here's a Sunday night reassurance from this cowtown's top elected official:

KC City Leaders: We Are Prepared For Snow

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas, Interim City Manager Earnest Rouse and Acting Public Works Director Ralph Davis today released the following statements ahead of the first anticipated snowfall of the season:

"I thank our Public Works workforce for its dedicated work on our roads and bridges all year, filling potholes and crack-sealing roads to ensure they're preserved as we head into this cold and snowy season," said Mayor Lucas. "Despite all that's occurred this year, our crews have been out each and every day working to build a better Kansas City, and ensuring our daily commutes are safer and include less bumps and swerves. I know they will continue this excellent service as we brace for the season's first snowfall this week."

"Our crews have been preparing the last several weeks checking equipment, cleaning plows, and starting to practice routes," said Davis. "Our trucks are ready, our salt domes are full and our team is prepared for the weather headed our way tomorrow and the rest of the winter season."

So far this year, 96 percent of the 9,293 potholes reported to 311 have been filled. Hundreds more potholes that were not reported to 311 have also been filled by Public Works crews. Additionally, the City has a total of 30,000 tons of salt in its five salt domes throughout the city and expects to reach full capacity of 35,000 tons by end of week.

Representatives from the Public Works Department will present the City's snow plan for the winter season to the City Council during the Council's Business Session this Thursday, October 29 at 2 p.m.

"I want to thank, in advance, the hard-working men and women in multiple departments who share snow duties every winter," said Rouse. "Our team works together to tackle everything from frost on bridges to major blizzards, and we are ready to roll as snow season kicks off."

  1. Actually, this is good news that the mayor is worried about practical matters and not just focused on protesting.

  6. Actually, most of the snow in KCMO is coming from inside city hall.
Maybe, if the streets are cleared within a week it will be worth another mention in the New York Times or a stint on Face the Nation.
Let's keep those Lucas priorities straight!

  16. Quinton Lucas did a horrible job on Face The Nation. The host, Margaret Brennan, made Lucas look foolish. KC has a hick reputation to begin with and Lucas put the hick stamp on the interview. Lucas is a hick trying to parrot leaders of much larger cities. Keep Lucas off national tv. It makes us all look bad. And Lucas doesn’t know what a snow truck is ! Wow ! Go back to KU Law School .
