This cowtown's most prolific scribe on the topic of faith & morals offers his insight on how & why deeply held racist beliefs take shape and are (often but not always) enforced by the political status quo.

Understanding American Christianity's history of white supremacy
It is too simplistic to put it this way, but in some sense Christianity in the U.S. can be divided between those who focus on individual salvation and those who are more concerned about helping to create a moral, just...
Jesus would have preached white supremacy If had visited the Congo or 30th & Prospect.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the impact of Allah sucking goat dick on Muslims? Bill needs to understand that’s why all Muslims suck goat dick.
ReplyDeleteBill Tammeus has made many racist remarks, and even bragged about winning "the genetic lottery" in a recent column as shown by his 6 ft. 3 white stature and superior white mind.
ReplyDeleteHe also routinely attacks the Catholic Church. He particularly hates the Pope.
ReplyDelete"White Supremacist" = Any White person with the temerity to reject Marxist Jewish narratives regarding the White Race.
ReplyDeleteOh, and he likes to attack Israel too.
ReplyDelete"Keyboard Coward" = any person with a fixation on sucking a goat's dick.
ReplyDeleteSo, you suck goat dick and you’re kinda defensive about it. Understandable.

ReplyDeletepostmillenialists are wrong - you can't ever make the world a peaceful perfect place! Confederates thought they could - but failed. Ruling people from the south are from a different part of Europe than northerners. The southern group has DNA which causes them to be slow, make poor decisions and basically have a temper and treat others poorly. The south is still far behind the north in commerce, technology, law and order.

125,000 years, AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT (186,500 MPH) just to cross our Milky Way galaxy.
ReplyDeleteBillions of galaxies in the known universe.
(Suspected billions of universes.)
Sun goes Nova and consumes Earth. Not even cockroaches survive.
Earth is an infintesimal pinprick on an outer arm of the galaxy.
Universe estimated 14-16 Billion yrs old.
Earth 5-6 Billion.
Humans have worshipped literally thousands of gods in their short time on Earth.
The roughly 1800 years of current crop of gods is another pinprick in human history.
During the early part, the Sun revolved around the Earth, or you were burned at the stake.
Or, the Earth was flat. Even today, Flat Earthers and New Earthers (6000 yrs) exist.

Your error is exactly the same as literalist fundamentalism.
Delete11:33 Explain his error...
ReplyDeleteCasual atheism misses the point by focusing on useless, literal interpretation of (just taking the Bible) an immensely rich and complicated library of ancient literature. It ignores the symmetry and structure present in something like the book of Job snd completely (and shallowly) misinterprets the way antiquity expressed itself. It proclaims a joyless victory by playing gotcha games with symbolic storytelling so deep and informative that it's an ancient treasure house of insight into the moral and psychological truth of what it is to be human. In the place of this wisdom and structure it provides nothing.
DeleteFundamentalist interpretation similarly. Though the literal 'truth' of events in holy texts is an open question, focusing on the literal presence of an Ark (for example) is a baby's way of seeing these texts.
Both points of view are intellectually and morally empty despite their pretentions.
Could the same be said for "Gone with the Wind?" Maybe some civilization in the future will consider that a sacred text.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good novel. It's not an ancient repository of inherited wisdom collected over centuries and painstakingly preserved by generations who understood its value. Nor is it an ambiguous, rich cultural document that, again, speaks to human beings in the deepest psychological and symbolic language about truths which are as eternal as anything that matters in the human experience.
DeleteFalse equivalence is false. Casual atheism gives the shallowest possible reading.
12:24 sounds like me when I was so proud of my education that I managed to move beyond a batch degree and flabbergast friends at a cocktail party with my belief in the Bible- uh--sorta. Just giving it credit, after a few years, and much more study-- I concluded that crediting it with anything less than absolute truth was pointless. THATS THE WHOLE POINT ! Its the truth, and the more you look into it, the more you take it as literal. Of course, those way behind the game call that "self brainwashing".
ReplyDeleteSo @12:24 and @2:39, can we look at the other 68 Gospels of The Christ that Nicea discarded as somehow not being "repositories of of inherited wisdom collected over centuries and painstakingly preserved by generations who understood its value."?
ReplyDeleteOr is it your contention that the Council was somehow divinely inspired to weed out the "untruths" in order to produce a "Coherent Corpus" that, only coincidentally. served to support the political power structure of the time, which was under attack by those who accepted parts of those "wrong" Gospels as truth? Was God present at Nicea?
12:24 huh?
ReplyDeleteAn atheist has to maintain that all existence, life, mind, and reason itself are the products of mindless forces. And yet this is not demonstrable in any experimentally repeatable sense. Hence, at its basis level, atheism is irrational.
