Local news only gave this a brief mention but an East side blaze hidden in the woods overlooking the 18th & Vine district billowed smoke into the sky and was visible across the metro this afternoon.
I'm sure authorities will make up some other story but it was a hobo camp set ablaze. Several fire trucks responded to the fire along with a few police cars the followed.
Developing . . .
Well dammit there goes the tax base!
ReplyDeleteMove them to the homeless camp or is it the new Chaz at city hall, those people need all the help they can get down there!
ReplyDeleteI heard that the People's City is getting showers and laundry facilities installed. Bums will rush from all over to pitch a tent at our version of Chaz.
ReplyDeleteSaw the smoke. Was hoping it was the homeless camp that's out in front of City Hall.
ReplyDeleteLMAO!
ReplyDeleteHopefully the community will pull together to help those displaced by fire.
ReplyDeleteThis was not a hobo camp...it was just a gathering of constitutional scholars engaged in debate on the future of the republic and the teachings of the Founding Fathers. No alcohol or hard drugs were present. All of the participants in the scholar's bowl camp had gainful employment and give massively back to the community in the form of charitable contributions to the Kansas City symphony.
ReplyDeleteMany of the homeless suffer mental illness or PTSD. Some have military service. They deserve compassion.
ReplyDeleteThere by Grace...
