KANSAS CITY DEVELOPERS STILL DREAMING OF DOWNTOWN BASEBALL!!!

Hype for Kansas City corporate welfare defies reason and the current budget crisis as local suits continue pushing for their dream of downtown baseball despite the abysmal performance of the home team this season.

To wit . . .

KANSAS CITY DEVELOPERS ARE NOW PUSHING DOWNTOWN BASEBALL HYPE AS THE ANSWER TO ABANDONED OFFICE SPACE AMID THE PANDEMIC!!!

Check the premise that's hopelessly optimistic in the midst of grim pandemic economic reality . . .

“All this office space doesn’t make sense anymore. You need more apartments as people move back into the cities.” The financial help provided by historic tax credits has allowed Kansas City to save many of its architecturally significant buildings rather than demolish them, Phil Aftuck of Bernstein explained. The developer also said the improving downtown business climate is providing more jobs, making it a more attractive place to live. He cited the decision by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to locate two agencies here and Waddell & Reed relocating its headquarters.

“If they ever bring baseball downtown it would be great,” he said. “It’s a healthy town.”

You decide . . .

  1. People who want to bring baseball downtown have drank too much koolaid and sucked way too much cock.

  2. And it won’t cost you a dime! Hahahahaha!

  3. Maybe we should wait and see what the final damage of failed leadership during the Kung fu flu will cost us first? Just sayin, with all the businesses closed and people out of work it will take years to recover and idiots like the soon to be recalled mayor mcdumbo and city clowncil maybe we should wait until 2030 to even start thinking about it.

  4. What’s the name of the guy from Bernstein? Phil Atfuck? His name should be Phil Buttfuck.

    ReplyDelete
  5. So the "plan" is to go from publicly subsidizing office buildings to publicly subsidizing turning those same buildings into apartments?
There seems to be only one consistent element to this "plan".
    Dig deep KCMO residents!

  6. Only logical place to put it is where the "18th & Vine District" is now located. That would bring a true flow of money into the area and support development there, as well as remove the existing "Money Pits".

The "N-word League Museum" could be incorporated somehow into the new Stadium, as well as Museums devoted to other variants that had just as much relevance to the sport of Baseball, such as a new "T-Ball Museum".

Tribute to the "rich history of Kansas City Jazz" could also be incorporated, perhaps in a booth selling replicas of "one-way tickets out of KC toward Success" and model Cadillac Escalades.

  7. I think you should move "Chefs" stadium downtown too. If you are going to go completely bankrupt go balls out or stay on the porch! 😏🙄🍿

  8. Baseball is dead. Not many care anymore.
    Done.

    ReplyDelete
  9. ^^and yet that's not true. Baseball will be downtown in five years. I guarantee it. Weird.

If all you developers think this is such a great idea put all your own money on the line to make it happen.

Phil Aftuck of Bernstein stop using our our money for your dreams. Time for you to risk losing it all when your dream crashes in a huge pile of unwanted space at ridiculous per square foot prices.

  12. Baseball is full of America-hating kneelers. Patrick MaHomes is the worst of them.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Connect the existing stadium to the downtown stadium via aerial tramway and play doubleheaders simultaneously.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Where's that NBA team that Q Ball promised? Go balls out going broke Kansas Shitty!
    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  15. Great idea; use a billion dollars of Jackson County taxpayer dollars to build a downtown stadium so Royals players can show their contempt for taxpayers, veterans and police by kneeling during the national anthem.

Plus, what a prime target for BLM and ANTIFA to vandalize and burn.

No thanks - VOTE NO to any downtown stadium.

Professional Sports hate whitey and taxpayers.

  16. Kansas City is rapidly becoming a post-apocalyptic hell scape. Everyone is moving out, not in and people will not want to drive into KC to see a baseball game, assuming that people will ever be allowed to even attend baseball games again. KC right now cannot afford its new hotel, new airport, and very old sewer system. Now it is supposed to pay for a new stadium that will cost north of a billion dollars? In a city where no one wants to live, work, or even shop in anymore! Of course City Hall will support it.

    ReplyDelete
  17. ^^and yet it's not. Weird.

    ReplyDelete
  18. And yet it is. Weird.

    ReplyDelete
  19. The best thing people say about our current stadiums location is they don’t have to go into the city, they have all said that it’s too dangerous to go anywhere near downtown. They will stay in hotels in independence, blue springs, liberty and some even prefer to stay on the Kansas side. Nobody wants to drive downtown with all the murderous hoodrats running loose, nobody.

Look at traffic on game days and see where it’s all coming from, that tells you something right there.

    ReplyDelete
  20. ^^and yet nobody under 65 is afraid to go downtown, downtown baseball makes sense and you don't watch sports and are broke so you're nobody's target demographic. Sorry, not sorry. Weird.

  25. Downtown Stadium will never happen.

Taxpayers have wised up there is no economic benefit to the community other than giving Clark Hunt and the Royal's owners billions of taxpayer dollars over the years.

Absolutely no economic development created by the Chiefs or Royals around the Truman Sports Complex except for a Denny's across the street.

  26. ^^and yet it's going to happen. No debate. new owner wants it so...It will work and be a tremendous success. Sorry, not sorry. Most posters on here are relentlessly negative about everything. They don't like anything. Hate KC, hate Westport, hate the P&L, hate women, blacks, mexicans, gays, young people, Democrats, the streetcar, KC restaurants, etc. You know what I mean. Why would any of you losers think ANYBODY thinks like you, or better yet, cares what any of you think? You people are the dumbest, saddest, most boring, and biggest losers in the city. You are the minority around here. Most people in the city support it and it's happening. You people are wrong about everything and hop[lessly out-of-touch with reality. Hell, you actually think Trump as a chance in hell of winning!

    ReplyDelete
  27. It is not like there isn’t precedent for spending a couple of billion on a new *something* when we already have a perfectly functioning and serviceable *something*. (Cough, cough! KCI). There is nothing in the psychological make-up of KC government that would cause it to pause and consider the costs and potential downsides of a new grand project. Nothing at all. Being realistic is not negativity. It is realism. Jackson County just spent hundreds of millions upgrading the existing K. JaCoMo will be paying those bonds for years and everyone who shops in Jackson county pays for those bonds with a very high sales tax. Of course those idiots would buy a new stadium when they have one they are already making payments on and it is superlative in most ways. But there are palms to grease and local contractors to fatten and lines of friends lining up with their hands out for the KC grift. Why not waste more money? The taxpayers are chumps.

It will be off the charts. The inmates are running the asylum. Kansas Shitty has done hit the iceberg. It isn't a matter now if it will sink. Just when that will happen. Y'all might want to put some pontoons on the toy choo choo. Jus' sayin'! 😏🙄🍿

  33. Well, up here in the Northland, we don't care where you put your baseball stadium. It can stay out there on I-70 or downtown. Let the rich law firms downtown support that kind of America-hating kneeler crap. Up here in the Northland, we are cleaning our gutters and raking leaves. Our boats and pools are all winterized, and we are putting the shovel attachments on our tractors. So put that baseball stadium in downtown and keep that area of Independence clear so the druggies and hookers can move around on Sundays without traffic jams.

  34. ^^ Nah, we just hate you 11:17 and anyone that has contact with you hates you.

Downtown Stadium will never happen. Taxpayers have wised up. If you paid income taxes you would understand.

  40. Just saw that " Kansas City did a ridiculous 44.4 rating and a 74 share yesterday for the Chiefs-Bills game. That is the highest rating for a weekday afternoon event in many, many years if not ever. There will likely never be anything that challenges that."

What happened to the narrative that ratings were down? i thought you broken, busted bitter, bitches weren't watching? According to that metric, 74% of the houses that had TV's in KC were watching the game. Ha!!! Chiefs win again baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You geezers are so out-of-touch with what's going on in this country!!! Hahahahahah!

I think that post is a rebuke to retards like Bandit, or you for that matter, who say you’re not watching here in KC and that the ratings for the NFL are down in KC-they’re not. I saved you the effort of looking that up. This ratings number indicates everybody in KC is watching, including you TKC liars. Now blow me while I shit CHUD. I just gave you your shine box.

  55. bandit, douche bag, that meant (vehicle primarily for real estate, developer profits aside), they should consider seriously talking about city bypasses for i35, i70, 71 highway, even outside of and not utilizing 435, before building a downtown stadium if they do not want more of a cluster fuck in the downtown loop. The city has filled up their 435 bubble and has outgrown the traditional concept of 'downtown' over the past 60 years.

    ReplyDelete
  56. "downtown" is an outdated/abandoned office park, now just another neighborhood but with a bunch of convoluted highways going through it.

    ReplyDelete
  57. This comment has been removed by the author.

  58. I understand the highway system quite well 5:39. I also understand that the highways are under the state and federal jurisdictions. MoDOT is broke at the moment. I'd love for them to pursue this pipe dream just to watch it crash like the toy choo choo and the new airport that wasn't needed to begin with have. Kansas Shitty has champagne taste and they don't even have a beer budget. Those fuckers are straining shoe polish for a buzz at the moment and digging through the couch cushions for money to get the shoe polish to run through a dirty sock they stole off a homeless guy.

By all means build it! Not my shithole! Not my problem!

Damn I enjoy watching this train wreck! 😏🙄🍿

    ReplyDelete
  59. a big central park with mixed use housing development makes more sense since berstein guy agrees it is an outdated/abandoned office/warehouse/industrial area.

Baseball stadium needs to give efficient access to greater metropolitan area. The 'downtown' neighborhood will never offer that, probably not even if MoDot and KsDot evolved the highway system for the next century.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Prove me wrong like you did with the toy choo choo and the new airport that wasn't needed. Build it. I dare you!

  62. A downtown stadium would be a disaster. Like everything else downtown the developers will forget about having enough parking. The current stadium has a large parking lot and is easy to get to. What is needed out there is more restaurants than a Denny's. Maybe build a fake downtown around the stadiums like Village West in KCK.

Do these promote economic growth or largely unused buildings that no one in area can afford to use?

Stadium should cost KC zero except the cost of traffic nightmare, short term jobs that use few local contractors who will fall over each other fighting over them, and building a city with no planning except that of the developer whims and profits. These guys will not study the traffic because they do not care about it or your city or your stadium or your tail gating tendencies or anyone in greater region being able to access it easily.
