Kansas City 18th & Vine Same Old Song

Here's a report and all that jazz about revitalization which KCMO has been waiting on since the 90s. Sadly, this same old song is nothing more than newsies filling time with developer hype that has NEVER worked to provide revenue for this embattled district.

18th & Vine development proposals aim to rid blight, add housing, entertainment

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Two different developers are proposing projects to buy city-owned land to help bring life and spur an economic boom in Kansas City's historic 18th and Vine District. Some business owners tell 41 Action News it's long overdue. "We have been neglected for decades," business owner Henry Service said.

  1. “We have been neglected”? Is this clown serious? Henry service new what he was getting into when he bought his building plus the taxpayers have robbed blind to pay tens of millions of dollars a year for that worthless piece of shit. Fuck cleaver, lickass Henry service and any other asshat that thinks the taxpayers owe them anything.

  2. Change the buildings all you want, but there will still be negroes there with and their shootings, robbing, drug dealing.

  3. If private citizens and businesses/organizations want to try to revive this obviously doomed area, then go for it. Do not use our taxes, TIF bullshit, or any other public funds. I would really like to see exactly how much money has been thrown straight down the toilet on 18th and Vine. Save the jazz and NL museums and move them to Union Station or somewhere that people will actually visit without fear of having their car stolen or being shot. Those things are an important part of KC's history and should be experienced. Bulldoze the rest of it and move on. In the middle of a pandemic and riots in our city I'm astounded we're talking about things like this (yet again) and a city ordinance on hair of all things.

  4. Before 18th the jazz district gets any revenue the city needs to be cleaned up of the crime otherwise it's wasted money and time for everyone. Quinton Lucas knows nothing on how the do that and he has added to the crime in this city so I wouldn't hold my breath. The country is in a bad state right now so this should be on the back burner, there's more pressing things right now like no cops and riots but Lucas is too stupid to see that.

  5. Private money without subsidy is the logical next step.

  6. ^^^^
And the words "private" and "logical" make that course of action unlikely and impossible.
Another recommendation to the cowardly electeds is for them to just use the word "NO".

  8. If it is so GD important to the Black community why can't all the poor to rich Blacks partially to fully fund this bottomless money pit? Can they not support the Black businesses? Can they not declare this a no crime zone? Christ, they have the whole city to fuck up, can't they in this district just get along?

They can organize a GD mob over social media (about shit that happened over a thousand miles away) in minutes, but they can't organize a fund raiser from time to time to support their own historical properties???

Al Sharpton yells for whitey to "get your knee off our necks!" We should just back the hell all the way off so they can "get their hands out of our pockets!"

  12. Jazz is for fat old white men, with no wives and no jobs, who think they are Maynard Ferguson. He was a gay man who believed in some off eastern religion and made his whole family relocate to India so he could act a fool with the cult leader. Bulldoze the Jazz district.

  13. Can Cheptoo still afford she weave?

  14. Bulldoze. Then erect the historic jazz district county jail. That would be good fit.

  15. Most of the jazz funds have been spent at the nearest Cadillac dealer. As a live long fan of jazz I can say jazz fans are not the type to visit museums.

  16. So many people have tried to help that area. No one in this town knows how to organize themselves. This type of dysfunction is the reason why we are called cow town. I am more and more embarrassed for my city. I will likely retire some place that’s not KCMO!
