The Kansas City tent protest standoff is becoming more serious as the war of words escalates betwixt a protest leader and police.
First and foremost . . .
THREATS OF VIOLENCE ARE STUPID AND THEY'RE COMING FROM 'MANY SIDES' OF THIS NASTY DEBATE!!! STACY SHAW IS SILLY FOR PLAYING A DANGEROUS RHETORICAL GAME OF CHICKEN AGAINST THE PO-PO AND THEIR SUPPORTERS!!!
Smarter people than TKC understand that tough talk can easily get out of hand amid rising tension over the election, the economy and continued threats of more civil unrest.
In this round, police reps SKILLFULLY garnered political capital by exposing the threat but still urging CALM from their side.
Meanwhile, Attorney Shaw reveals her incompetent leadership and strategy in the midst of this protest that has garnered nationwide attention.
More importantly, she has crossed over from constitutionally protected protest provocation to ill-advised and menacing chatter that police union officials say is directed at the families of law enforcement.
TKC Real Talk: First of all, any threats against a person's family in Kansas City is out of bounds. Not only will EVERY BIT OF POLITICAL SUPPORT DISAPPEAR but also, that kind of precarious portent inspires the opposition to stop playing around and start getting serious. Moreover, Ms. Shaw is misguided if she thinks her army of Johnson County acolytes and midtown roustabouts will stand by her if things start getting thick . . . Fact is, a great many of them have already safely crossed back into the suburbs and back to their urban retreats because this protest is getting out of hand.
Brief aside and a quote from a legal eagle pal . . . The poor preggo lady who ALLEGEDLY got curb stomped by police "made a tactical error by giving her case to Ms. Shaw. A capable lawyer might have been able to earn a settlement of hundreds of thousands without setting foot inside a courtroom . . . But a local attorney with a 'controversial' reputation for politically charged statements might find it harder to faithfully represent a client."
Final point, as an "officer of the court" even perceived threats against the police is one the most serious accusations that can confront a lawyer. Our blog community has hoped that tough talk wouldn't intensify to this level . . .
Now, it's clear the rhetoric from the Kansas City tent protest has crossed the line.
Expect the tent city to be shut down VERY soon given that there isn't any prominent politico, member of the clergy or activist that'll stand up for this kind of talk from Ms. Shaw.

"We are going to start sharing things with your children’s teachers,” Protest Leader Stacy Shaw said.
“You don’t think that we have extensive researchers. You don’t think we know where you’ll live.” Shaw said families of police officers should stand up for justice.
That’s why she said she will start sharing information with the public. “Why are they allowing all of these officers to murder all these people without retribution,” Shaw said.
In a press release, Brad Lemon, the Kansas City Fraternal Order of Police President, urged members to remain calm stating, “We do this job and have an understanding of the danger that accompanies our oath.” Lemon continued, “our families do not deserve what Shaw is threatening.”
