Deadly Kansas COVID-19 Outbreak Redux

A horrific uptick in Sunflower State pandemic deaths sparks national headlines and threatens to thwart local progress in returning to normal.

Here's the national news roundup . . .

Every resident of Kansas nursing home infected with Covid

All 62 residents of a Kansas nursing home have tested positive for the coronavirus, and 10 have died, health officials said. One resident is hospitalized, and the rest are being quarantined. The Norton County health department announced the outbreak at the Andbe Home in Norton on Monday.

  1. It's just a Democrat hoax, seniors. The numbers are going down instead of up.

  3. This is an important story and needs follow-up despite the grim situation. We're told covid is a death sentence, especially for those in dire health. People go to nursing homes with significant health issues already. We would expect a 100% mortality rate in this situation, as terribly tragic as it could be. As far as the 10 people have died, that's rather misleading. They do know how people get out of nursing homes right? What was the timeline of these deaths, what is their average rate of death? That is literally what the waiting list is for in nursing homes; someone else's loved one dies and now your loved one can take their spot in the place. My Grandmother died in a nursing home a shell of her former self. Frankly if I'd been in charge, I would have hired a visiting nurse for meds etc. and let her live out her life in her dangerous home doing the same shit she'd been doing for 60 years there. But, I've jumped off the rails so... Will NBC be doing a follow-up here in two weeks?

  4. We still don’t know how to protect nursing home residents. We don’t let close relatives visit so the mental and emotional condition of the people there suffer but yet the workers are able to come and go as they please and seem to be the source of infections. This is an indictment of health officials who are more focused on small restaurants and bars and outdoor athletic events than they are on proven hazards like nursing homes.
