For Tara Raghuveer, 'Every Eviction Is an Act of Violence'

" If you think about it one way, we're in the midst of the biggest rent strike in national history," Tara Raghuveer, director of the KC Tenants union, told me over Zoom: "There's massive noncompliance from inability to pay the rent, and hundreds of thousands of people are politicizing that inability, as they should."

  1. Just what the fuck is a "community activist"?

  2. ^^^^
Someone who makes no effort or spends any time trying to actually learn anything about an issue, complex organizations, or the thoughts and welfare of anyone other than themselves, has NO responsibilities for anything, but understands that their claim to whatever "relevance" the media gives them depends entirely on making DEMANDS.
So the demands never stop, the issue is driven to its most extreme, and the public bails out.
But as long as there are selfies and the red light on the TV cameras stay on, the "activist's" dreams of self-importance are fulfilled.
    Just look around KCMO.
The list of these charlatans is endless.

Yes, but if you really, really think about it in another real-life way, we're in the midst of just another insurrection. The authorities need to put it down, hard.

Then let's ask this Tara creature if she still has her made-up definition of "violence".

  4. they may get more support from their landlords if they expand their platform and include mortgage strike/arbitrary all interest-barely any principal first strike.

  7. It's sad that our national level of education has declined to a point wherein neither the author nor the editor of this article published in The Nation would question the statement, "Every eviction is an act of violence..."

Violence comes from the Latin root "violentia" which also gives us "violation". Violation is the state in which one finds themself when they have broken a contract (even if by no fault of their own). Therefore, the initial act of violence occurs when the rental contract is broken. Eviction is self-defense (and warranted when terms cannot be reached that would remedy the violation of the contract).

The case law is firmly established in matters such as these (as the CDC will learn in the coming weeks). I fully understand the unprecedented times in which we find ourselves but violating the property rights of the millions of rental property owners across the United States (many of whom can not make ends meet without their property performing) soves nothing.

  8. Every deadbeat renter is an act of violence. Every activist named Tara is a dumb cunt.

  9. Eviction is a legal process dictated by laws.

    Violence is breaking the law.

Tara is threatening violence and not paying her lease she agreed to pay, 0-2, not one ounce of sympathy for her law breaking ass.

  10. Every skipped rent payment is a reparations windfall for the renters.

  11. Renting is a contract. Like buying a car, buying a life insurance policy, buying a lake home. Both parties are bound to keep their promise in the contract. If not, the contract is broken. Its Old English law from hundreds of years ago.

I feel sorry for renters and business owners. However every 20 years there is a severe economic downturn. Massive job losses. You MUST figure that into your life and plan around it.

  12. Get on your knees and suck. At $20 per blowjob, you ought to have the rent together in no time! GET A JOB.

  13. What are renters who can't pay now going to do when these moratoriums end finally? I'm sure some of them have made arrangements with their landlord, but how many spent that stimulus check or the extra $600 /week expecting it all to be zeroed out anyway? Tara didn't mention that in her interview only that "every eviction is an act of violence".

  18. Deferring evictions to provide time enough for individuals to pursue alternatives housing would be of value; but eventually the renters either need to pay rent or the renters will be evicted. Landlords aren't going to be willing to rent to the individuals evicted. Failure to pay once will be an indication of failure to pay twice or thrice...

  19. Yep and not paying your bills but having money for an Escalade is called Fraud.

  23. When landlords no longer make money and can not fix properties just where do these idiots think that they are going to live? All of the new complexes in Overland Park? Hell NO. You run a landlord out of business and you will have nowhere to live in this city. No deposits returned. No water. No gas. No electric. Just you and the rats and you deserve each other.

  25. I had four tenants evicted and had one tell me she and her kids were going to have to live in her car. I know for a fact she was collecting $600 a week for at least three months. Between the tenant and the "secret" roommate she allowed in to split the rent, she could have paid rent for a year and still had money to feed her kids. Glad she is on the street. I already have the units re-rented, full deposits, first and last, and a 25% increase in rents. I had people offering me more. If you can get the deadbeats out, raise your rents, collect first and last, and make the tenants pay their own utilities. I make them pay to have their lawns mowed now, too.

  26. ^^^ Most have money for cell phones, fake nails, dope, 300 dollar air jordans, 5,000 wheels., fancy ride.. not a penny for their kids education nor feed them nor cloth them nor put a shelter over their heads. Funny how DAT works. Ever see them pay for groceries with assistance card, then show their wad of cash for stuff not covered under assistance ? yo buddy.

  27. I would like to know who is funding "Tennants KC"? They seem to have money for bull horns, huge banners (very expensive), T-shirts for everybody, flyers and etc. But they don't have money to pay their landlords for rent?
Follow the money and you'll find out what is behind this organization.

  28. I'll bet Tara has her rent paid by the people she shakes down as THE LEADER of the organization. Probably a nice ride with fancy wheels and only buys her gas and underwear at the expensive places. She lives nice while others starve. Kind of a Marie Antoinette kind of thing. Weird.

  29. Their end game is to eliminate private ownership of rental property and to force the government to spend $$BILLIONS OF YOUR TAX DOLLARS to build brand new, high efficiency public housing units for all renters. Tara works for https://peoplesaction.org/ headquartered in Chicago and is their press contact. Their platform and her profile can be found at https://homesguarantee.com/. Do your homework, don't be fooled into believing this is a local "grassroots" housing movement.
