TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY MAYOR & COUNCIL CONSIDER GIVING STARLIGHT AN EXTRA 3 MILLION BUCKS TO SURVIVE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC RECESSION!!!

Sent our way by an AWESOME TKC TIPSTER and something to consider for readers in search of late night entertainment in the form of screwed up local priorities . . .

COUNCIL ADVANCED AND WILL LIKELY VOTE YES ON MILLIONS FOR STARLIGHT WHILST LOCAL SMALL BIZ SUFFERS!!!

Check the legislative amendment that allows for more cash to bring the struggling theater up to ADA standards.

Read the fine print for the reasoning . . .

"To compensate for increased procurement time resulting from the economic slowdown caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic . . "

And let's remember, just last week and right outside this place there was a flurry of weekend gunfire that might ruin any show for patrons of the theater.

Nevertheless, whilst local small biz struggles to survive . . . Mayor & Council subsidize show tunes and a great deal of bad acting.

Developing . . .

    1. ^^^

Lulz. We should all get free tickets if KC has to pony up for the bill.

  2. People still go to Starlight? That's interesting. I would have thought this dump would have been phased out of the Kansas City slush fund years ago given how few people really care about Live Theater anymore.

    1. And yet the show goes on. Weird.

  3. Mayor Lucas is booking "Niggas Wid Attitudes" and wants BLM and the 'community' to reap the same benefits available to the patrons who shoot up 18th and Vine.

Next up, shutting down the Zoo, except for Chimpanzee Island and moving the Negro Baseball Museum into the Veld area.

And of course, we are renaming the zoo, Martin Luther King Zoo (The chimps will be issued firearms and ammunition for that real time feel you get in cities when you are driving down Martin Luther King Rd.).

  4. So they’re rewarding the management for booting white people who have been season ticket holders for over 25 years or more? This is how the racist mayor is gonna play this game?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Did mayor mcdrinkerson get the three million from the 850 furloughed white city employees?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Couldn't this money be better spent on black issues only, such as, milk street signs, blm murals, grievance seminars, and direct payments to black kings n queens.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Why don't we appropriately honor "Black Culture" and "Black History" in Kansas City by re-painting all the BLM "Murals" in black?

    ReplyDelete
  8. More white guys getting "furloughed".

Didn't Starlight get Covid stimulus money?

Or how about they just drop the ridiculous restrictions and let businesses do what they do?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Stupid is as stupid does! Stupid idea! nO money for Starlight and no money for stupid bike lanes!
    FIX THE DAMN STREETS,

  10. Face it KILLA city has a democrat problem more then a chink virus problem

    ReplyDelete
  11. Where I live everyone has 10 guns and we don’t kill each other our businesses are open and we are fine but in libcity they have been goin in a downhill spiral for 30 yrs and lets blame it on chink virus how convenient

  12. Turn the whole thing over to BLM and they can hold rallys there. Most of them are already in the park dealing and at the zoo shooting. Save money on bus fare to the northland for their mural paint classes.

  13. Starlight was a fun KC tradition, but like so many other venues in KCMO, Swope Park is just too sketchy to mess with anymore. I’m sure Weird guy and Geezer hater will disagree, but the police reports speak for themselves.

  14. ^^^ As if "weird" guy and "Geezer" hater are out of bed yet.

Probably up late smoking sherm and watching World Star.

  15. Why do an ADA upgrade to the seating bowl now? This is more of payoff to Turner than it is anything that will actually benefit Starlight patrons.

    ReplyDelete
  16. 7:25 don’t forget, they did “ada improvements” not that long agp, using “ada improvements” is code for stealing money to give to someone else. Maybe this is a kick back to blm and antifa, you know, mayor mckneelys new bestus friends who he hires to rough up people he doesn’t like and to stir the race hate he has for whitey.

    ReplyDelete
  17. There are probably minority owned contractors lined up to get their cut, but Turner Construction is not a BLM front, unless you know something I don't.

  18. Amazing what it seems this town has money for but then doesn't.

  19. One person made at least seven posts here.

  20. ^^^^And you think that's strange?

Happens every day, day in and day out by the weirdo dude and boomer hater

  21. KC MAYOR AND COUNCIL UNDERWRITE STARLIGHT "SPOKEN WORD" PERFORMANCES

    FEATURING:

Councilwoman Melissa Robinson performs her 1-woman show "Porky and a Mess" detailing her struggle from Catfish Row to the KC Council, while battling imaginary white institutional racism.

Fake-Dr. Rex Archer recounts his mental breakdown after contracting Trump Derangement Syndrome, and reviews how he ended up in an asylum after making threats against the President.

Quinton Lucas shares passages from his unpublished book "The 3 Faces of Q", drawing from his schizophrenia diagnosis and tripolar world of black, white, and LGBT.

  22. yes 7:25 has an adult comment. i wondered too. also, what is source of funds? it is the one-time federal boost, right, in other words, after this wave of pork gets wasted, that's it, the city is on its own figuring this out.

but at least the city did some furloughing. look at big government Mike Parson at statE OF MO - not a single furloughed state employee even though the state economy is in shambles and revenue intaking and projections are way the heck down! the prime minister of India took a 30% pay cut by contrast

starlight is not a dump, whoever said that. Swope park is very beautiful setting.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Dammit, where am I now going to be able to see "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat"?

    ReplyDelete
  24. ^^^ All while sweat runs down your butt crack. ^^^
And you wish the 300lb lesbian next to you would have doubled up on the Lady Speedstick.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Why did they do this paying out 3 million???

Starlight should let churches have outdoor services there for free maybe a outdoor REVIVAL AND TAKE BACK KANSAS CITY FROM THE DEVIL.

FURTHERMORE, THE CITY OWNS STARLIGHT AND HAS SMALL NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES AT STARLIGHT..

BEFORE FUNDS GIVEN OUT SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE REVIEWED PAST BUDGETS TO SEE IF A PLACE THAT'S ONLY OPEN FOR SHOWS MAY TO SEPTEMBER AND FUNDED BY PRIVATE BUSINESSES AND HOSPITALS. WHERE DID ALL THAT GRASS PARKING LOT CASH GO..

    AUDIT IT....

    ReplyDelete
  26. Why doesn’t the dumb shit throw money at more murals? He is a complete moron.
