THE PITCH ADMITS THEY'LL GO KAPUT WITHOUT KANSAS CITY DONATIONS!!!

Begging readers for money is the new hotness for Kansas City publications.

This blog once had a "Fun-Raiser" and we might do it again, so we're not here to judge.

In fact, a forthright, somewhat desperate and surprisingly honest plea for help from Pitch publisher Stephanie Carey offers more insight into the struggles of the publication.

The Pitch needs your help

Here's an admission that the new owner profit model has been corrupted by the pandemic . . .

"I wish our small, local media business could sustain itself on advertising alone, but the reader, we got hit twice. First with our own direct losses—all of our events that we cannot host right now, and then with the losses from local businesses that we once relied on for revenue. It’s the economic churn and burn of small businesses in 2020."

Amid the continued coronavirus depression locals are getting hit up for cash at every direction.

Hard times haven't just hit journalists . . .

Right now pr0n stars are having an increasingly hard time squeezing cash out of their followers on OnlyFans and those ladies are willing to reveal EVERYTHING for only a few bucks a month.

And therein lies the rub . . .

The Pitch offering "membership" isn't giving much beyond what they used to push on the public for free . . . Membership, paywalls and all manner of reader incentives along with good old fashioned begging might be the only way to save journalism in the future . . . But there are A LOT of newsies in the metro making the same offer (or pitch) to the public whilst locals remain tragically misinformed.

  1. They should be find.

Once Biden wins we'll get some universal income so that everybody can afford 50 crab cake dinners promoted by Kansas City journalists!

  7. Good bye.

Your faggot cali editor ruined a once great local reporting newspaper. PS did he ever recover from the covid...did he ever really have it?

Now its just a propaganda for the deranged left.

Even free the cost is too great since reading the propaganda will make you stupid.

  12. What happened to Steve Vockroct or whatever his name was. Doing hit pieces on urban neighbors and losing faithful followers led this periodical to its demise. Blight... was never corrected. I don’t feel bad or compelled to donate. Let it die.

  13. Now if they would just take NPR and PBS with them down the tubes.

However, won't because we taxpayers pay for the Commie media.

  14. The Pitch was always of value back in the day when I used it to start my charcoal chimney. Not so much anymore.
