Newsflash: Broke-Ass Kansas City Unable To Sustain Corporate Welfare For Developers Amid Coronavirus Economic Depression
Despite happy talk about overcoming the pandemic, the virus has devastated local finances and will create a desperate need for austerity at City Hall. This fact of life has inspired a "conversation" about giveaways to greedy developers which may or may not force politicos to change their priorities and realize "job creation" can't start with exorbitant freebies.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 is breaking the working poor and forcing social change.
Check the newspaper "reporting" on this truism that started the minute the KCMO shut down:Tax breaks for Kansas City developers are an issue. Can discussions underway change that?
For years, tax-subsidized development has been considered essential to reshaping Kansas City. It has also drawn criticism for promoting growth in well-to-do enclaves at the expense of urban school districts and economically-depressed neighborhoods. In 2020, as demands for economic equality have grown, a movement to reform how and where the city encourages growth has gained energy.
Kansas city government exists to give funds to developers and a few scraps to assorted grifters. No reason to think going broke will change anything until some outside authority gains control.
ReplyDeleteMaybe KCMO can get a BLM office god knows they could afford it. They are not doing anything constructive with all the money they have gotten as far as I can tell. Bullet proof child car seats would be a good start.

ReplyDeleteOH Boo Hoo So where's everyone's tax dollars going now?????
^^^ shut up gopher boy
ReplyDeleteBLM should give the city a hand. They are a philanthropic organization. Look at the way they are helping build cities.
ReplyDeleteMAGATS still want a handout, though. They’ll take a handjob delivered by their Mom in a pinch, though. Who’s a good boy? Who’s a good boy today for Mommy?
ReplyDeleteI think your porn life needs serious work.
Delete5:38 does your pussy hurt? I bet you don’t know who your Mommy is.
ReplyDeleteBreaking news: Tax Breaks Given to Billionaire Developers Actually Hurts the Public. News at 11.
ReplyDeleteSeriously this is not news. Smart people have been saying this for many years. Even warning people this was coming. This city has given developers, literally, hundreds of millions of dollars over the years to build things in this city. Then when things come up short, the city has to dig into the pocketbook to throw even more money at it (see the P&L. See the Loews Hotel, etc). I just can't help but be in awe of all the good that money could do if it were directed to infrastructure, schools and just investing in things that directly enrich tax payers instead of billionaires who don't need it.
But hey this is still #KorrupCity
