Kansas City Weekly Power Rankings: Mayor Sly's Comeback Amid COVID Crackdown
In much the same way that Brit hotties rule our heart, local pandemic restrictions still dominate the metro.
Nevertheless, we share a peek at power players who dominated the discourse this week.
Take a peek:
Mayor Sly Reprise
The former Kansas City politico dominated national news chat shows this week and seems to be positioning himself for a Beltway appointment should team Biden reclaim the White House for the Democratic Party.
Docs Warn Of COVID Death
Kansas City docs put Kansas City on notice once again . . . We're all gonna die without masking up, following social distancing rules and avoiding any questions of unelected officials. To be fair, the data proves docs right as the pandemic numbers grow worse and more sick people occupy local hospitals. Nevertheless, doctors orders are habitually resisted and this time around the campaign season offers justification for risky behavior.
Petitioners Against Mayor Q Go Full MAGA
There is no denying the momentum of this group. They're quickly accomplishing their goal of putting a recall effort against Mayor Quinton Lucas on the ballot. However, election history has shown us that a Republican renaissance in Kansas City proper is unlikely. Moreover, convincing the 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th Districts to vote the mayor out of office will be a long shot. Either way it's a fun slap fight that has provided a bit of entertainment as we witness a new generation disillusioned by the reality of KCMO politics.
And so . . .
This list has been compiled according to scientific TKC polling and market research data and it's a weekly comprehensive guide to local powerful people, trends and our times.
