Again, the East Side rename won't stir much controversy or have the same impact as more ambitious endeavors that were shut down or dismissed by political special interests . . .
"The board will discuss a recommendation this week that would change the name of parts of Volker Boulevard, Swope Parkway and Blue Parkway to honor the civil rights leader.
"The trio of small streets runs from Brookside Boulevard to 55th Street. Each individual street is small, but together, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference believes it is enough mileage to honor King."

New effort underway to add MLK Boulevard to KC
KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) - A major roadway in Kansas City could be renamed for Martin Luther King Jr., the second attempt by the city to honor the civil rights icon. MLK Boulevard signs were up on the Paseo for a few weeks before the street name was changed back.
The "Martin Luther King Louie West Memorial Bowling Alley" would seem more appropriate
ReplyDeleteKnock down those privileged white pins all day long
Quit dicking around, rename something and shut the fuck up already!

ReplyDeleteTell me this isn't a black racist movement....That's exactly what this is. Quinton Lucas and BLM is our pissing on everything marking their territory just like the uncivilized animals they are. We have been through this before and they can't take no for an answer. Quinton Lucas your mother and father must have been just like the other black morons who are the ignorance of our country that breeds more ignorance. Uneducated and thinks everyone owes them with the woe is me I'm black chip on their shoulder. So Pathetic.
What will this broke shitty have to pay the greedy King family for the privilege of naming? No one ever seems to get an answer. Are we paying for the MLK park? How about some so-called transparency.
ReplyDeleteNo not trannys, they're at UMKC. Transparency=answers.
It doesn't matter what you name after him historically either East or South of the thing is a ghetto.
ReplyDelete12:50 They will never tell us how much the King name will cost this city on a yearly basis. I bet the good Dr. Rev. Vernon Howard knows exactly how much. He'll probably get a cut.
ReplyDeleteJust name it, and get it over with.
ReplyDelete18th street is the logical candidate.
ReplyDeleteRename Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard. MLK Jr. has done more for Kansas City (nothing) than Cleaver ever has (failed car wash).
ReplyDeleteLets not waste anymore money renaming things. Fix up the park and call it good.
ReplyDeleteOK, am I the only one wondering why you would change the name of 3 or 4 short sections of streets....does this not cause an issue people trying to figure out where the hell they are going.
ReplyDeleteName 1 street and get it the f- over with!! I agree with an earlier commentor rename Cleaver and be done!!
Good God, this is why people have no respect for these stupid ideas from activists
Monkeys
ReplyDeleteLove
Killing
I wish these people would fucking quit with this shit
ReplyDeleteThere are many other things we could spend money on besides shipping an astronomical amount of money to MLK family to use his name
stupid fucks need to wake up and get a real job
If the cleave wants this so effing bad have him give up clever Blvd, him, the fat fake revs and mayor mckneely want it at any cost, divided city or not, they won’t stop at any cost, They would burn the city to the ground if that’s what it takes.
ReplyDeleteMlk must be laughing his ass of at this stupidity, his family is probably embarrassed by this whole disaster.
