KANSAS CITY DOWNTOWN RENAISSANCE REAL ESTATE BUBBLE BURST!!!

Here's more data which suggests the promise of the so-called "Downtown Renaissance" was really just a cruel joke on cowtown taxpayers.

Money line . . .

"The percentage of Americans saying they want to live in cities dropped 55 percent in just two years, down to barely 13 percent. Rather than the much ballyhooed “back to the city” movement, we are entering what Zillow describes as “a great reshuffling” to suburbs, smaller cities, and less expensive states."

Blue Today, Bluer Tomorrow | National Review

How progressive policies have failed the working class and minorities The prospect of untrammeled progressive power, particularly with a malleable Joe Biden in the White House, may seem depressing for conservatives or even old-style liberals, who are concerned by the Left's increasingly censorious and authoritarian bent.

  1. Thank you Tony. Great article.

  2. There comes a time when the working man or woman cannot afford all of the Marxist Democrat government programs and corruption.

Lining the pockets of corrupt government bureaucrats and their lackeys is unaffordable and folks are moving out.

Vote for Joe Biden if you want higher income taxes reducing your paycheck.

Democrat Party - Jackson County Executive Frank White has already raised your property taxes 25%.

Ask yourself, what are these local Democrat Party government bureaucrats doing with all of your money?

Roads are full of potholes, undrinkable water, $200 water bills, trash everywhere, crime at record levels, murder and mayhem is what higher taxes have brought the average citizen of Kansas City / Jackson County.

  3. Get over it. No one is lowering your taxes. Not Democrats. Not Republicans. 0.1% now own as much as 80% of the population and it got that way under Obama, under Trump. If you don't see that then you deserve what your partisan brain gets.

  4. I went to an open house yesterday and the democrats are moving out into the country and so are the blacks. You communist idiots vote for tax and spend and then when things get bad you move to republican areas only to destroy with your commie agenda. You never learn. Plus you idiots pay way over for properties, which screws everything up, the property owners see you dumb asses coming.

  5. 8:07 this is key dummy, Trump is changing the way our taxes are being spent, eliminating all those worthless demoncrap welfare programs is what is keeping our taxes at a stable and more affordable tax rate. I have gotten more money in my paychecks per month and hopefully he can make some more changes.

Here’s a perfect example of the corruption in government. Peelousy wanted 25 billion dollars for the post office that they didn’t need, they have over 15 billion left for their fiscal year and its plenty and it’s more than they need. Do you actually think that money was only going to the post office? You’re a fool if you do, there’s so much kickback money in there for politicians families and friends it’s sickening. This is just one example, there’s thousands more, why do you think the dimwits hate trump so much, he’s taking our money out of their pockets thats why.

If you don't know about the 0.1%, then you don't know that 3 billionaires own as much as the bottom 50% of US population.

If you think poor people are the problem, you've been hoodwinked by the rich. Learn to find your news elsewhere while you still can.

  8. 8:07 - "Get over it. No one is lowering your taxes. "

You're wrong 8:07; Trump lowered our income taxes.

Marxist Democrats keep raising our taxes.

Vote for President Trump if you want lower income taxes and a bigger paycheck.

Vote for Democrat Joe Biden if you want higher income taxes and a smaller paycheck.

The lazy grasshoppers want to take the hard-working ants money, food and housing !

  9. Richard Florida and the other urban futurists who come up with this crap have already moved on with new "ideas", books, and consulting gigs to further their careers.
The failure of their last big big ideas is not of any concern except to the taxpayers in cities that were "run" by clueless electeds who drank the KoolAid, squandered millions on empty promises and make-believe projects, and ran up huge public debt to pay for much of it.
And now, on to the next BIG BIG idea.
You don't want to be "left behind"!

  10. Good article. Even in NYC and L.A. people are moving out to the suburbs. Even London is having a drop in downtown residents. This was to be expected in light of the virus, overcrowding and shootings in downtown areas. You can hide better in the suburbs...!

  11. @8:57 - What about the national debt? Trump's tax cuts helped it grow even larger. Your "tax cut" is really just a loan from your kids and grand kids.

  21. ^^^Or maybe not: https://www.brookings.edu/bpea-articles/measuring-income-and-wealth-at-the-top-using-administrative-and-survey-data/

But, so what? Wealth is not zero sum, a fixed pot where every dollar Bill Gates has means one less dollar for Joe Sixpack. America's poor continue to be the richest impoverished people in the world, comparable to middle class Europeans. And they have the opportunity, just like Bill Gates did, to create value where there was none before.

    1. Right but the scale of inequity is staggering. You could double the wealth of half the population with money from 3 people. But that's not the point, the point is that enormous wealth buys legislative privilege that lets them get weakthier at the expense of everyone else. An uneven playing field. This dem vs republican stuff is distraction while the middle class pockets are picked.

  24. Bill gates takes his money from anybody who is stupid enough to buy his products, you make money by taking somebody else’s money through selling a product so your theory of every dollar gates takes means nobody can make money is bogus, you take it from the people who are willing to part with it.

  28. Hoping Four Light and Five Light come soon.
    Maybe Six Light.

By then hopefully it’s all Section 8 and not just for white privileged.

But by then most will have maybe moved and then the buildings razed to make way for soccer or whatever protesters play by then.

Also Kudos to Mayor 10-10-10 for his crime plan. It seems to be working...by focusing on protests and crime by a couple of police- the public overlooks the historical high KC murder rate. Nicely done Mayor 10-10-10.

  29. I just went to a tea leaf reader.

She said in the year 2035 Colin Kaperneck will be still wanting to play and the one person still working at the KC star will interview himself and say Kap still can play and will try to get the only 4 teams left in the NFL to sign him for quarterback.

Tom Brady will later retire that year and give his spot to Kap... upon which it will be revealed they are both female and secretly married.

Nest fortune teller ever. Accurate too.

  30. There are some larger companies that renewed leases in KC who will be breaking these to move to the suburbs. Safety for employees is a major factor.
