Kansas City Country Club Plaza Crumbles As InterContinental Announces Layoffs

There was always hope that Kansas City would quickly recover from economic devastation amid the pandemic along with the impact of rampant rioting.

Now . . .

THE KANSAS CITY HOTEL BIZ SUFFERS LONG TERM DAMAGE AS LAYOFFS INFLICT PERMANENT ECONOMIC DAMAGE!!!

Now, there are some clueless locals who completely blame the virus and/or Prez Trump for this tragic economic setback . . . But that view is not only ignorant but also incomplete. Reality: Weeks of 2020 rioting shut down multiple businesses on the Plaza and caused a ripple effect that worsened the financial predicament for this iconic entertainment district.

Sadly, the struggle for social justice has cost these local workers their jobs . . .

KCTV5: InterContinental KC lays off 114 employees amid COVID-19 pandemic

Deets:

“Given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and its continued economic impact on the hospitality industry generally and this hotel specifically, which was not reasonably foreseeable at the time of the actions, InterContinental Kansas City is forced to make the lay-offs permanent for some if its employees,” the hotel said.

  8. Well lets see...the intercontinental is just to upscale for Quinton Lucas isn't it. I mean mainly white business people and wealthy tourists that keep a city going stay there. So lets punish whitey, now that Michael Jackson is dead and can't stay there anymore, right Quinton?

  10. Imagine how small a life would have to be to think of KC as the most exciting place you have ever been. The only thing this city really had going for it is the Plaza and the Boy Blunder called the police off when they tried to protect it from the rioters and looters. Now, the only excitement is dodging pot holes, while racing away from random acts of violence all over town. It is a dystopian nightmare.

  11. Sadly, any truly upscale hotels are now out of place on the Plaza. Who wants to pay 5-star hotel prices to eat at Chuy’s and shop at Old Navy. Paging Motel 6!

  12. 3:00, 3:03 and 3:42 are the same asshole who needs to be banned forever from this site. They add nothing and are nothing. Has to be a pedophile who hangs out on the computer all day surfing for victims and jumps on here in between kids sites.

  13. PLEASE DON'T WORRY TOO MUCH

After all, the KCMO City Council granted the InterContinental Hotel on the Plaza "blight" designation in the recent past.
