Kansas City Activists Continue Demands For Mayor Quinton Lucas To Help Fire KCPD Chief Smith & Push Local Police Control
We've previously noted that so-called "local control" was killed mostly by way of Council dude Eric Bunch double talking his BLM allies. Now, once again, activists call out the mayor with the help of public radio:

Kansas City Mayor Lucas Says He's Passed 'Radical' Criminal Justice Reform, Some Say 'It's Not Enough'
Protesters gathered at Kansas City police headquarters and City Hall after the grand jury decision not to charge Louisville police with the killing of Breonna Taylor. The group of about one hundred protesters chanted Taylor's name, called for Kansas City Police Chief Rick Smith to be fired, and renewed demands to abolish the police.
Lucas is too naive and steeped in the college culture to understand that once he knelt to the "demands" of "activists", those demands would continue to the extreme.

Perhaps more selfies and making a fool of himself on national TV would help.

Let it go. If there were sufficient reason for the Chief to be fired, he would have been. If there was a rational or legitimate reason for local police control that would already be implemented, too. The truth is... citizens are safer with State patrol. Dont fix what ain't broken... or at least is the case with everything Kansas City, what isnt broken to the extent a change is warranted.

ReplyDeleteHere’s something the idiots of defund the police are, if kcpd gets defunded then guess who will fill in? Clay, platte and Jackson county sheriffs department will, if they were to be defunded then it falls on the Missouri highway patrol, if they get defunded then the feds come in.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile these morons want that tax money paid to kcpd to go to them when all that money could and probably would go to the sheriffs depts instead. If that doesn’t happen then taxes go up again to pay for all the additional sheriffs deputies needed to fill in. There will nevar be a time when the city won’t have law enforcement in this town. Children and their childish thoughts and mayor mckneely is one of them.
Fire him for what? Being white? Oddly, nearly every city that has had actual police misconduct had black chiefs AND local control.
ReplyDeleteTurns out the cops in Breonna Taylor case were acting within policy (except the one who was fired and charged). Who was in charge of those policies? Louisville mayor and city council, that's who. THEY could have fixed it, but they didn't. KCPD doesn't do plain clothes, midnight raids because there is too high of risk of something like Breonna Taylor happening. They have COPS making decisions, not moronic electeds.
If racism is systemic in law enforcement (which it's not) then the ONE department in the country NOT like all the rest, would seem to be a model. Why in the hell would you demand to make it like all the other broken departments?
Lucas is an idiot. City council are his jesters.
