"Victims told police that they were in the area of 1300 W. 12th when they heard shots and observed people running from the area.
"When they realized they were shot, they were driven to a local hospital by a private vehicle. They both have non-life-threatening injuries.
"Officers canvassed the area around the haunted houses but were unable to find the crime scene."

"Local media did stories on the opening of the Haunted Houses this weekend and their safety protocols for Covid and social distancing.
"Inside they may have taken steps for safety but outside was a different story. There were thousands of people down there last night. Many fights and issues with the crowds . . . At one point officers working the area had to call for assistance and there were tons of cops down there trying to keep order.
"Shots were fired on a few different occasions in the area . . . The Haunted Houses apparently closed early because of the issues."

So--there were no victims AT the scene. And the police could not even determine WHERE the crime scene was. Yet the news media, AND Tony, tag it as happening "in the vicinity" of the Edge of Hell or The Beast.
ReplyDeleteSloppy, biased reporting. If there was a reported shooting near the Catholic cathedral, with no victims AT the scene, would that have been the lead? If there was a reported shooting a block away from Winsteads, would it have be reported as a shooting at Winsteads? No.
Neither haunted house is actually at 12th and Mulberry. They are both a block away.
These fine entertainment venues have operated for around 40 years. They have a short season. And have done everything according to the book to provide for safety INSIDE their businesses. Cut them some slack. Don't tarnish their excellent reputation with haphazard reporting.
We also do not know if this was racially charged, since the media conveniently does not report such.
