TKC SUNDAY SPECIAL!!! KANSAS CITY BLACK LIVES MATTER DEMONSTRATIONS TRENDING AMONG LOCAL NEXTGEN!!!

Just moments ago nearly two hundred locals, parents, teachers and students marched through Brookside yelling "Black Lives Matter" and "I Can't Breathe."

Protesters shut down a main thoroughfare and earned a surprising amount of support, applause and cheers from neighbors.

UPDATE - KMBC: Black Lives Matter protest calls for change, unity in Brookside

The weather was idyllic for a Sunday walk through Brookside even if a demonstration for social justice offered a new spin on a traditional Sunday stroll and shopping.

Checking our "socials" we noticed an interesting missive on this protest that deserves consideration. One demonstrator shared the following passage that offers a peek at the psyche of some protesters:

"Why not protest? There's nothing else to do right now. It's a good time. There are lots of people and I get to find out who among my friends and family are racist when I post to Facebook. Joining BLM as an ally is proudly going on my résumé because it's the future. Things are changing and I want to show that I was on the right side of history . . ."

What can we conclude from this sampling of a missive that has earned hundreds of likes and sparked debate among the denizens of Brookside/Waldo???

JOINING BLACK LIVES MATTER TRENDS AMONG AMBITIOUS WHITE NEXTGEN MILLENNIALS EAGER TO ADVANCE THEIR CAREERS AND SOCIAL STANDING!!!

When we think about the bevy of the corporate cash that BLM and affiliated organizations have earned, it's hard to argue with this logic.

Of course, most protesters tell us that the struggle for social justice is a selfless act and most protesters are sacrificing their time and safety to create social change; we trust that's the case for most activists and that their hearts are pure.

Still, it's not unfair to view the Black Lives Matter movement as part of a greater American cultural shift that will dictate the norms of our society moving forward. Notwithstanding, only the upcoming 2020 election can reliably determine how deeply this movement has resonated with the American public.

You decide . . .

  1. i view it like the civil rights movement? Yes, there were people opposed to it and most of them were totally eviscerated by the media and history. You can't be against something, you have to be for something.

    BLM is one option.

But you shouldn't forget that Back The Blue and America First are also other options. It's up to you what you choose!

    5. Let’s keep talking about what happened hundreds of years ago in hopes of getting free shit and preferential treatment. Lord knows hand-outs to these people have helped their race. Their Democratic politicians keep promising them shit and don’t deliver and the cycle goes on. Blacks will be crying the blues 100 years from now. The real issue is they continue to self implode by not having normal family structures. The black families with two parents have normal well adjusted kids who are successful and could care less about BLM or Antifa.

  22. 8:11 Actually, if you remember correctly blacks were enslaved by their fellow Africans and sold to Europeans, among others, for their own profit. No white people went to Africa to kidnap natives there. Also, it would be helpful to explain how someone steals land from someone who has no concept of property ownership, being a neolithic culture without permanent structures or even a written language.

    1. The claim is transatlantic trade, not slavery per se. 3 million dead on the middle passage and shackled down in their own excrement for months. Most Europeans renounced slavery as barbaric centuries before the US. There is simply no model of slavery as shockingly barbaric and ruthlessly utilitarian anywhere but in the Americas under white xian rule. Read the first person narratives.

Exactly, the implementation of one set of rules on another culture for exploitive gain is immoral.

There was written language and astronomical notation of Mars transit back to the Mayans. They fought their own wars over what if not resources? They knew copper and gold. Hardly neolithic. The trading networks extended up to north america. These people could live off the land without destroying it.

The indigenous culture is rooted in an oral tradition of place and memory. The rock glyphs are their own language.

It might be uncomfortable to examine, but 400 years of white xian rule and prejudice is what got us to this crossroad for better and for worse. Best to understand both sides as we are all dealing with the fallout from the past. Right or wrong, reparations are coming. Just my opinion. Everyone has one.

  27. Look at them as sort of a religious cult, which attracts university "educated" youth, and probably a few blacks. BLM uses Maoist Thought Reform techniques to get people sucked in,and retain them, just as every single religious or political cult which has recruited from this demographic in the last 50 years has done. And corporations aren't immune from idiotic support of cults, they were big on Werner Erhard's EST cult in the 1970s, requiring their employees to go to cult indoctrination sessions. And governments got suckered in, then and now. The outward appearance changes, the techniques are the same - https://www.culteducation.com/brainwashing19.html

How many black on black murders have BLM protested (none). How many food pantries do they support (none). How many elderly checks has BLM performed in the black community (none). How many worthy causes have they given grants to to help the black community (none).
WAKE UP PEOPLE ! BLM is not a good organization and it is run by Anarchists tearing down the good things in your community, they don't build up anything, they destroy the lives you have.

1492 - Columbus discovered America (Bahamas, really)
1526 - The first slaves arrive in what will become GA
1868 - 14th Amendment ratified (slavery abolished in the USA with the 12th, 13th, and 14th Amendments)
So slavery was legally accepted 1526-1868, 343 years (inclusive), but ended more than 150 years ago (152 years).
When will whites not be blamed for the failure of the black race anymore? When will it end?
One of the goals of the American Civil War (which has more American dead than all future wars combined) was to abolish slavery. Whites saw that slavery was wrong, and was willing to fight to the death to end it.
If they could have erased it, they would have. The best they could do was stop it. So they did.
I don't want or expect a "thank-you" from former slaves or their descendents; but likewise I don't expect to be persecuted for something that I didn't do.
    When will it end?
