Whilst Kansas City was debating social justice and street signs, our KICK-ASS TKC BLOG COMMUNITY was busy looking at the worsening financial situation at City Hall.
To wit . . .
12TH & OAK ONE WEEK FURLOUGHS COMING SOON AS KCMO CORONAVIRUS BUDGET CRISIS WORSENS!!!!
Here's documentation and proof that the pandemic is tightening purse strings and threatens to put city workers in a horrible bind given that the feds have yet to distribute that desperately needed stimulus part deux.
Legislation . . .
Ordinance #200647: "Directing the City Manager to develop a plan for a minimum one-week furlough for City staff; and directing the City Manager to produce the plan within seven days of passage of this Resolution."
And whilst many love to admonish government workers, this furlough would basically bring city services to a halt and leave residents without any semblance of help from 12th & Oak . . . Basically, Brookside & Ward Parkway would finally see how the rest of us feel.
And while the excluded positions look to keep police & fire going . . . The extraordinary scope of the upcoming furlough reveals KCMO in desperate financial shape.
Developing . . .
Sure, Ward Parkway might feel it but most people in KC know that they're going to get any help from city hall.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, the temporary shut down might even allow businesses to run more effectively without government interference.

But then who will distribute all of that county welfare. Hope they plan this out properly. It would suck to go a week without trash pickups.
DeleteLike every other week in most neighborhoods.
Think about it!
Note that the directive states a MINIMUM of one week furloughs.
ReplyDeleteThe KCMO budget was sucking air long before the virus came to town and it was comical to listen to the Slyster during his new book pitch to point out that Lucas' big challenge as mayor is going to be handling the city's financial crisis.
That, as it turns out, was made much much worse by irresponsible massive spending on such nonsense as arts festivals and continued huge subsidies for developers.
Not to mention the airport fiasco that was supposed to be paid for "by the airlines".
Lucas and the kiddie council are so far over their heads they can't even see the sky.
Dig deep KCMO residents and businesses.
Sad.
ReplyDeleteSo let me get this straight...Furloughs are coming to city workers but yet they have the money enough to do something stupid like paint BLM on the street in not one location but 3 or 4????? And you stupid people are going to put up with that? And the you call the GOP racist and Marxist. HaHa that's pathetic. Throw people out of work for a display of racism.
Actually it’s worse. The “murals” will be at 6 locations. That equals 6 pissed-off neighborhoods.
DeleteGood. Now City workers can do nothing on their own dime.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile the BUS GOT $8 MILLION DOLLARS to keep spreading the Kung fu flu, we can keep a worthless bus system running but can’t Pay employees for a week.....
ReplyDeleteSo qball is now throwing employees under the bus for his terrible decisions, I swear a ten year old kid could run the city better than he could.
Does this include fire and police too or just the low level employees that make less than $40 thousand a year? You know management isn’t giving up their paychecks, qball and clowncil included.
Leaked Joey Biden plan recommendations for KC to prosper:
ReplyDelete1. Have the Girl Scouts sell more cookies so the museums can hire ducks.
2. Tax the KC billionaires 120% of their income and net worth . When asked about how they would pay more than the have- Joe said “hey I will fight you 3 rounds and the Mexicans are more diverse than Blacjs”!
3. Spray paint MLK on Paseo sign and remove the paint twice weekly. Asked how this helps KC Joe said, “If I had a dollar for every time the wheels fall off my canoe
There you have it folks. Biden is the absolute best the Democrat party (same one that founded the KKK and refused today abolish slavery) that the party of AOC can do. While Joe is sleeping in his basement and trying to figure out what century we are in- Nancy is in California enjoying her ice cream while negotiating the bankruptcy of America. Please don’t anger her and call the media today to ask them to not ask her anything but softball questions.. her face could melt while she so sincerely prays for our president.
Abandon Ship
ReplyDelete@6:59AM-Blah blah blah. The life of the lonely.
ReplyDelete6:49 said all that needs to be said.
ReplyDeleteLet’s see, $8 million for the bus, $19 million fed money to the city so far, how many millions for the jazz district again?
ReplyDeleteAnd Katherine shields wants to furlough the poorest city employees.....
This has to be the worst run city in the country.
Municipal Judges? That's already a part time job and they can't do crap without their staff. More proof that city leaders have no idea how their city operates or who does what. Not a clue which ones are "essential" and I'm certain will not lower the workload. So, everybody has to do more work in less time for less pay. Hands down the most incompetent city council in our city's history and that is a LOW bar.
ReplyDeleteThe city has financial problems but they have money to paint five BLM signs around the city.
ReplyDeleteSix. And they are street murals, not signs. And what happens when they are defaced? The City will pay to have them redone.
DeleteKANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) – Kansas City Councilmembers have adopted a resolution that will have “Black Lives Matter” murals painted on designated streets as part of the KC Art on the Block initiative.
ReplyDeleteSix locations for the street murals have been identified. They are:
Briarcliff Parkway & North Mulberry Drive
Baltimore Avenue & 10th Street
18th & Vine Streets
Troost Avenue & 31st Street
Brookside Boulevard & 63rd Street
Meyer Boulevard & Troost Avenue
Trump lied; 160,000 died. Economy utterly broken. Millions still without jobs. Trump flu running rampant. Stable genius can’t even pronounce Yosemite let alone run a country. Farm bankruptcy rate sky high. Farmer suicides are same thing. Racist MAGATs having daily public tantrums and meltdowns.
ReplyDeleteWinning.
Don, you need to stop drinking that democrat koolade
ReplyDeleteHey Simpledave...if @6:49 said all that needed to be said, why did you have to say anything? Retard.
ReplyDelete^^^^^He showed support while all you show is hate, so now who is the retard?
ReplyDelete^^Wrong. He showed his ass like he always does, and it's you. You're the retard Simpledave. Always.
ReplyDeleteAs the wise person who posted a t8/7/20, 7:55 AM the city has enough cash to pay employees on a Saturday (is that considered overtime?) to help BLM. I will be having lunch today at Trezo Mare ( a resturant in the shopping area of the Briarcliff and Mulberry). I will ask the management if they are aware that their business will be affected by the closing of a major intersection on September 5.
ReplyDeleteWhile you’re there, ask the residents of the neighborhood how they feel about the mural? Except for Travis Kelce who lives in that neighborhood, I have a feeling they won’t be pleased. They’re not a racist bunch of folks but they likely don’t support the Marxist organization that is BLM.
Delete@7:56 - "Man Who Sniffs his Granny's Panties" has to post his tiresome cut and paste juvenile propaganda from the Huffington Post.
ReplyDeleteThis simpleton lives in his Grandma's basement watching "The View" like his geriatric hero Joe Biden.

ReplyDelete"Directing the City Manager to develop a plan for a minimum one-week furlough for City staff"...but Mayor Quagmire will continue receiving his guaranteed taxpayer-funded salary of some $145,000, just as he's done throughout the COVID-19 restrictions!!!
So, now KC, MO is contemplating doing what many private sector entities did 4 months ago! What foresight! What leadership!
ReplyDeleteCan we get a signed petition to remove the street graffiti which the City has moved forward with? Each neighborhood should have the right to decide if their streets are to be painted any what the subject will be.
ReplyDeleteThis creates true division in the City.
KC-you are better than this!!!
On the bright side we have a really neat toy choo choo and a new airport that we didn't need half built. The obvious thing for Q Ball to do is to furlough the police department. Makes blm happy, makes pissed off clowncil members happy gives criminals a free reign and all will be right. Best part yet is Q Ball still gets paid! Problem solved.
ReplyDeleteThese children committed another $8,000,000 to the Street Car a couple of months ago. It is criminal that a city of this size could be managed by these clowns. Hello Detroit, Lansing and East St Louis, here we come...
ReplyDeleteAnd Q Ball thin's he's going to get an NBA team. Nobody is going to want to move to and represent this shithole.
ReplyDeleteThere is no such thing as a street mural. Murals by definition are only on walls. They call it a mural to try to pass it off as art work. But really it's a political message, and everybody knows it. When someone inevitably asks to deface some street with a contrary political message, gets denied, and sues, the city will claim it's not a message it's art - and will lose.
ReplyDeleteAll BLM street murals will be complemented with large street signs stating "RV Septic Tank Discharge Location," which will be installed by anti-Marxist American patriots who love their country.

7:24, 7:56, 8:28, and 9:11 is one and the same AKA Weird guy. The loser who whiles away the day posting childish shit.
ReplyDeleteHow about a "USA" street mural with red, white and blue letters? How about something that helps unite us instead of divide us? We all know which political party likes to divide us into our own little tribes so we can continue the us vs. them mentality ad nauseam.
ReplyDeleteHey everybody! Who had 11:30-to 11:45AM in the first Bandit "Qball" reference?
ReplyDeleteHi, my name is Boomer Hater.
ReplyDeleteI like to sniff my Grandma's panties and post juvenile insults.
^^Hi, I'm a geriatric fucktard and this is the extent of my day. Everyday. Somebody kill me.
ReplyDelete8:28 is the epitome of a moron. 1:29 if you hurry you too can be a moron as well.
ReplyDeleteFurloughs....City workers are so efficient, no one will know they are not working.
ReplyDeleteThere was another organization in NYC that applied to the city to put a mural of their organization near blm mural. The city didn't want that and now all blm murals are off the streets
ReplyDelete@1:35 Good one.
