TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY 3RD DISTRICT LEADER MELISSA ROBINSON REJECTS APOLOGY AS MIDDLING COUNCIL REMAINS MIRED IN CULTURE WAR DRAMA!!!

Recently, TKC was lucky enough to have a brief conversation with one of the smartest advocates of urban Kansas City regarding recent 12th & Oak debate. Exasperated, he admitted:

"This is one of the worst councils that has ever been elected in Kansas City."

That's a bold statement but a quick consideration of previous 12th & Oak politicos proves the argument correct:

"They don't talk to each other. There's no planning, no forethought, they all have their own agendas and they don't even try to build coalitions."

Accordingly, this afternoon in a radio interview councilmember Melissa Robinson rejected an apology from one of her colleagues because it didn't specifically address (alleged) racism and she continued to align herself with activists and community leaders who demand the removal of the T&I chair even after public humiliation and an order for political reeducation.

OF COURSE, Councilmember Robinson is entitled to her personal opinions, beliefs and principals.

The point here is that whilst the council debate street markers, racism and social justice . . . Kansas City is quickly going broke and confronting increasingly violent streets as the coronavirus pandemic worsens.

Legend warns us about Nero fiddling as Rome burned and that classic story offers us a perspective on present day leadership kneeling before the alter of identity politics in the midst of far more serious threats to the people of Kansas City.

  5. Typical response from a council person, someone apologizes and the alleged "victim" rejects it.

This rejection makes it telling that she is promoting the racial divide in politics!!

  6. 9:12 well with bald man bad being the head of the pity party they’re striking while the supposed irons are hot, the problem with that is it’s obvious to the 99% of the taxpayers they’ve completely ignored for all these years we will always see through their bullshit lies, they’re despicable dimwits and they think everybody is stupid and don’t pay attention. We are paying attention and it’s time to put a stop to this b.s. and start the recall on these losers.

The black politics of racism, hate and lie after lie is catching up to them. It’s over and it won’t be forgotten by whitey anytime soon.

  7. And the predictable response to a completely unnecessary apology: a childish, narcissistic refusal with all the poise and class of the Wal-Mart refund counter.

  8. If Councilwoman Loar would just buy Melissa Robinson a couple of buckets of KFC chicken, all would be well. Apology accepted.

  18. ARROGANT BITCH WITH NO MORE CLASS THAN A RURAL REPUBLICAN POLITICIAN FROM MISSISSIPPI!

Somebody tell this stupid Broad it isn't about her, and she has to work with these people for the good of the City - that's why she's in Office, not because of the color of her skin!

  19. Once again the residents and businesses of KCMO come dead LAST after the self-importance, arrogance, and fake "celebrity" of these clowns on the city council.
Yet, year after year, the voters in KCMO can't seem to find just 13 people in a town of almost half a million who have at least some passing understanding, appreciation, and maybe even interest in what a city government even does.
And the whole region is dragged down by these folks' incompetence, mismanagement, upside-down priorities, fiscal irresponsibility, and even corruption.
    What a shame.

  20. 1:10: Loar's comment on who wrote Robinson's statement was excruciatingly tacky and condescending. I don't think it was rascist, but Robinson's refusal to accept Loar's apology is also tacky. She needs to get over it and move on.

  22. Blame Quinton Lucas. He masterminded the changes to the city council. The council went from 10 committees to 3 committees. The member of the committees have the mantra "not my committee". The makeup of the committees doesn't create opportunities for coalitions. Quinton Lucas is in charge, of sorts; but Quinton continues to be the yes man to every initiatives. Kathryn Shields can be the heavy for only so long. Few other city councilors will even acknowledge the dire financial straits of the city finances. The issues isn't just the decreases in revenue; but also the increases in expenditures, expenditures for which the city has not option but to pay. The end result is little money for the day to day operations of the city of Kansas City MO.

  23. Melissa Robinson is very well spoken. He comments on the city council are insightful. Teresa Loar's claim to fame is her ability to hold a grudge.
