Reopening Kansas City Courts Amid COVID-19

Local PBS consideration of courts shut down during the pandemic and the long, painful process of restarting the prison industrial complex.

Checkit:

"Since March, there has barely been any criminal jury trials anywhere in the country. Now, courts are concerned how they'll ever get twelve people to sit next to each other in a courtroom again. Hundreds of defendants have been sitting in jail cells indefinitely, with no certainty on when a jury of their peers will decide their fate. Citizens and justice workers discuss their concerns."

  3. The criminal justice system is more criminal than justice, whether viewed from the left or the right. 4% of those on death row are exonerated by DNA, meaning they were framed, while prosecutors like JPB fail to prosecute others. The problem is lack of accountability by those paid to do their jobs. Why should a prosecutor have immunity? If you're paid to do a job you should not have immunity from malpractice.

  4. So, national headlines, public handwringing and a re-election publicity stunt, and the whole LeGend tragedy turns out to be peripheral damage in a feud between two gangbangers.

I hope every public figure who used this child's death in a cynical opportunity for their own advantage rots in Hell!

  5. According to BMS, Ellis only shot little LeGend because of a history of systemic racism in America. So LeGend's death is white people's fault, and Ellis should not only be set free but should sue for defamation, on top of his reparations dole.
